Magpul MS1 Lite Sling Gray Review

The Magpul MS1 Lite Sling Gray Made a Bold First Impression

The Magpul MS1 Lite Sling Gray arrives as a streamlined solution for rifle carry. This sling promises a blend of comfort, durability, and minimal bulk, attributes Magpul has become known for.

I’d been searching for a lightweight, snag-free sling for my AR. The bulkier, padded slings I had used in the past often got caught on my gear during tactical training exercises. I wanted something simpler.

Upon unboxing, the MS1 Lite Sling immediately impressed me with its clean design. The gray webbing felt robust yet surprisingly supple in my hands. Its streamlined nature was evident. Compared to my old padded sling, the Magpul MS1 Lite Sling Gray was significantly lighter and more compact. I also considered the Blue Force Gear Vickers Combat Applications Sling, but the Magpul seemed like a better value for the money and offered a similar minimalist design. The Magpul product felt like a step up from my basic nylon sling, so I was excited to try it out.

Real-World Testing: Putting Magpul MS1 Lite Sling Gray to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial test took place at an outdoor shooting range. I spent a day running drills and practicing transitions.

The weather was hot and humid, but the sling remained comfortable against my skin. The simplicity of the design meant there was virtually no learning curve. Sling adjustments were easy. After a few minor tweaks, the rifle sat perfectly.

I did notice a little slippage on the webbing when doing rapid adjustments during prone to standing drills. I’d need to experiment more with the adjustment buckle’s tension.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of consistent use, the Magpul MS1 Lite Sling Gray has held up remarkably well. The webbing shows no signs of fraying or wear, even after multiple range trips and some light hiking.

Cleaning is simple. I’ve just wiped it down with a damp cloth after particularly dusty outings. It still looks brand new. Compared to my previous experiences with cheaper slings that quickly showed wear, the MS1 Lite has impressed me with its durability.
