The C Products Defense Inc DURAMAG Steel 350 Legend AR-15 10rd Black Detachable – 350 Legend Caliber, Aftermarket Origin Made a Bold First Impression
The C Products Defense Inc DURAMAG Steel 350 Legend AR-15 10rd Black Detachable – 350 Legend Caliber, Aftermarket Origin magazine isn’t exactly the kind of gear that elicits gasps of excitement, but in the world of specialized AR-15 builds, it’s a crucial component. This particular magazine, designed specifically for the increasingly popular .350 Legend cartridge, promised to solve a problem that plagued my AR build: reliable feeding.
For years, I’ve trusted AR-15 platform rifles for everything from hunting whitetail in thick brush to predator control on the ranch. The .350 Legend caliber piqued my interest because of its straight-wall cartridge design making it legal in certain states where bottlenecked cartridges are prohibited for hunting deer. However, achieving reliable feeding with this caliber in an AR-15 requires dedicated magazines, and that’s where my search began.
The arrival of the DURAMAG was less about fanfare and more about function. The simple black finish and steel construction screamed durability, not flash. Holding it, the weight felt reassuring, hinting at the robust build quality needed to handle the unique dimensions of the .350 Legend cartridge.
Before settling on the C Products Defense Inc DURAMAG, I had considered modifying existing 5.56 magazines and even tried a competitor’s polymer magazine. The modified 5.56 magazines proved unreliable, and the polymer magazine felt flimsy. I ultimately chose the DURAMAG based on its reputation for steel construction and specific design for the .350 Legend, hoping for a more robust and reliable solution.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. I was eager to see if this magazine could finally banish the frustrating feeding issues that had plagued my .350 Legend AR, preventing it from becoming the dependable hunting rifle I envisioned.
Real-World Testing: Putting C Products Defense Inc DURAMAG Steel 350 Legend AR-15 10rd Black Detachable – 350 Legend Caliber, Aftermarket Origin to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial test of the C Products Defense Inc DURAMAG took place at my local range, a no-frills outdoor facility where I could focus on functionality. I loaded the magazine with a mix of Winchester and Federal .350 Legend ammunition, representing the two most common loads I planned to use for hunting. The magazine seated firmly and easily into my AR-15’s magwell.
The performance was immediately noticeable. Rounds chambered smoothly, without any of the hesitation or jams I had experienced with other magazines. I ran through several magazines, performing rapid fire drills and slow, deliberate shots to simulate hunting scenarios.
The weather was dry and mild, typical for early fall in my region. I experienced zero feeding issues, a stark contrast to my previous frustrating experiences. This single range trip instilled a newfound confidence in my .350 Legend AR build.
Extended Use & Reliability
After the initial range test, the DURAMAG accompanied me on several deer hunts and numerous range sessions over the past six months. It’s been subjected to varying conditions, from dusty fields to light rain. It has proven to be reliable.
The magazine has shown minimal signs of wear and tear. The black finish has held up well, with only minor scratches from regular use. Cleaning is straightforward.
Compared to my previous magazine experiences with the .350 Legend, the C Products Defense Inc DURAMAG is a night-and-day improvement. Where I once questioned the viability of the .350 Legend in an AR platform, I now consider it a reliable and effective hunting tool, thanks in large part to this magazine.
