Extended Pistol TACO LT – Adaptable Belt Mount Review

The Extended Pistol TACO LT – Adaptable Belt Mount Made a Bold First Impression

In the world of tactical gear, finding the perfect balance between speed, security, and adaptability is a constant quest. The Extended Pistol TACO LT – Adaptable Belt Mount from an unspecified manufacturer aims to be just that solution for carrying extended pistol magazines. It promises rapid deployment, a lightweight design, and the ability to adapt to various belt setups, making it a potentially versatile addition to any loadout.

My search for this mount stemmed from a need for a more efficient magazine carriage system during competitive shooting. Existing pouches often felt bulky or slow, hindering my performance during timed drills. The Extended Pistol TACO LT – Adaptable Belt Mount’s claim of quick deployment immediately piqued my interest, suggesting a significant improvement in reload times.

Upon unboxing, the Extended Pistol TACO LT – Adaptable Belt Mount presented a surprisingly minimalist design. The injection-molded polymer brackets felt robust, while the elastic shock cord appeared durable and ready for heavy use. Its lightweight nature was immediately apparent, a welcome change from heavier, more traditional magazine pouches.

I considered several competing products, including the HSGI TACO and various kydex options. Ultimately, the Extended Pistol TACO LT – Adaptable Belt Mount won out due to its promised weight reduction and adaptability. The price point of $37.00 also played a role, offering a seemingly good value for the features advertised.

My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. The lightweight design and simple construction were encouraging, but the true test would lie in its real-world performance and long-term durability. I was eager to put it through its paces and see if it lived up to the hype.

Real-World Testing: Putting Extended Pistol TACO LT – Adaptable Belt Mount to the Test

First Use Experience

My first experience with the Extended Pistol TACO LT – Adaptable Belt Mount was at an outdoor shooting range during a practical pistol course. I mounted it on my competition belt, loaded it with an extended 9mm magazine, and began running drills. The weather was mild, with a slight breeze and clear skies.

The deployment speed was immediately noticeable. Drawing a magazine from the Extended Pistol TACO LT – Adaptable Belt Mount was significantly faster than from my previous pouches. The elastic shock cord provided ample retention, keeping the magazine secure during movement, yet allowing for a smooth and rapid draw when needed.

There was a slight learning curve in mastering the optimal grip and angle for consistent draws. After a few repetitions, however, the process became intuitive and fluid. No major issues arose during this initial use, and I was genuinely impressed with the improved efficiency.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of consistent use during training sessions and local competitions, the Extended Pistol TACO LT – Adaptable Belt Mount has held up remarkably well. The injection-molded polymer brackets show no signs of cracking or deformation, and the elastic shock cord maintains its elasticity.

The only visible wear and tear is some minor cosmetic scratching on the polymer brackets, which is expected with regular use. Maintenance is incredibly simple; a quick wipe down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove any dirt or grime.

Compared to my previous experiences with bulkier and less adaptable magazine pouches, the Extended Pistol TACO LT – Adaptable Belt Mount has proven to be a significant upgrade. Its lightweight design, rapid deployment capabilities, and durable construction make it a valuable asset in my competition setup. It outperforms my expectations for a sub-$40 piece of gear.
