BlackHeart Crossbow String 40.875 in. Barnett Ghost 400 Review

The BlackHeart Crossbow String 40.875 in. Barnett Ghost 400 Made a Bold First Impression

As a seasoned outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’ve seen countless crossbow strings come and go. Many promise the world but deliver mediocrity. However, the BlackHeart Crossbow String 40.875 in. Barnett Ghost 400 immediately piqued my interest, promising a blend of modern materials and time-honored craftsmanship at an incredibly accessible price point.

My quest for a high-performance string that wouldn’t break the bank led me to this BlackHeart offering. The claims of enhanced durability, reduced friction, and consistent string length addressed my primary concerns about crossbow string longevity and performance. Unboxing the string, I immediately noticed the tight weave and the smooth finish of the GlideLock center serving, a promising sign of quality.

I’ve used other strings in the past, notably from manufacturers like Barnett themselves and custom-made strings from smaller shops. While the Barnett string performed adequately, it lacked the refined feel of the BlackHeart. The custom strings, while excellent, were significantly more expensive. The BlackHeart Crossbow String 40.875 in. Barnett Ghost 400 presented itself as a potential sweet spot between affordability and performance.

My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. The build quality seemed solid, but the true test would be its performance under pressure. I was excited to see if the BlackHeart string could live up to its claims and outperform my expectations.

Real-World Testing: Putting BlackHeart Crossbow String 40.875 in. Barnett Ghost 400 to the Test

First Use Experience

My first opportunity to test the BlackHeart Crossbow String 40.875 in. Barnett Ghost 400 came at my local archery range. I set up my Barnett Ghost 400 and installed the new string, carefully following the manufacturer’s instructions. The string seated perfectly in the cams and string stops, a testament to its precise length and construction.

The weather was typical for late fall: damp and cool, with a slight drizzle. I was curious to see how the BlackHeart string would perform in these less-than-ideal conditions. Immediately, I noticed a smoother, quieter release compared to my old string. The arrows flew with a noticeable increase in velocity and accuracy. There were no immediate issues, and the string felt responsive and consistent, even in the damp conditions.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of regular use, the BlackHeart Crossbow String 40.875 in. Barnett Ghost 400 continues to impress. There are minimal signs of wear and tear, even after hundreds of shots. The GlideLock center serving is holding up remarkably well, showing no signs of separation or fraying, a common problem with cheaper strings.

Maintaining the string is simple. A light application of string wax every few shooting sessions keeps it supple and prevents premature wear. Compared to my previous experiences with other strings, the BlackHeart has significantly outperformed them in terms of durability and consistent performance. It has instilled a newfound confidence in my crossbow setup.
