The Kleen-Bore Tactical/Police Long Gun Cleaning Kit 5.56x45mm NATO Made a Bold First Impression
As a seasoned outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’ve seen my fair share of cleaning kits. When the Kleen-Bore Tactical/Police Long Gun Cleaning Kit 5.56x45mm NATO arrived, I was immediately struck by its purposeful design and rugged case. I was intrigued to see how it would stack up against my years of experience and preferred cleaning methods.
My AR-15, like any tool, is only as good as its maintenance. Consistent accuracy and reliable function demand diligent cleaning, especially after hard use at the range or in the field. I was looking for a comprehensive kit that could consolidate my various cleaning tools into one organized package.
The kit arrived in a heavy-duty reusable carry/storage case. Inside, everything was neatly arranged, from the rigid steel rod to the assortment of brushes and solvents. The initial impression was one of quality and thoughtful design, hinting at a product intended for serious use.
I’ve used similar kits from Otis and Real Avid in the past. While those kits offer certain advantages, the Kleen-Bore kit stood out due to its focus on simplicity and durability. It seemed to prioritize robust construction over gimmicky features.
My first impression was definitely positive. The Kleen-Bore Tactical/Police Long Gun Cleaning Kit 5.56x45mm NATO seemed like a serious piece of kit for those who take their firearms maintenance seriously. I was eager to put it to the test and see if its performance matched its promising appearance.
Real-World Testing: Putting Kleen-Bore Tactical/Police Long Gun Cleaning Kit 5.56x45mm NATO to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Kleen-Bore Tactical/Police Long Gun Cleaning Kit at my local outdoor shooting range. After a particularly dusty range day with several hundred rounds fired through my AR-15, a thorough cleaning was in order. The conditions were sunny and slightly breezy, which meant dust was everywhere.
The kit performed admirably. The rigid steel rod felt sturdy and provided excellent control while cleaning the bore. The included brushes and jags effectively removed carbon fouling and powder residue. I found the included BreakFree CLP to be particularly effective at loosening stubborn deposits.
The ease of use was a definite plus. Everything I needed was readily accessible in the organized case. It streamlined the cleaning process compared to rummaging through separate boxes of cleaning supplies. My first use revealed no significant issues, only a newfound appreciation for a well-organized cleaning kit.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the Kleen-Bore Tactical/Police Long Gun Cleaning Kit 5.56x45mm NATO has held up remarkably well. I clean my AR-15 after every range trip, regardless of round count. The kit has become an indispensable part of my post-shooting routine.
The durability of the components is noteworthy. The steel rod remains straight and true. The brushes still maintain their shape and effectiveness, even after repeated scrubbing. The case shows minimal signs of wear, attesting to its robust construction.
Maintenance of the kit itself is simple. I wipe down the rod and brushes after each use to remove any excess solvent or fouling. The case is easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Compared to my previous, more haphazard cleaning methods, this kit has significantly improved my efficiency and the overall cleanliness of my firearm.
