The ADV ARMS .22 LR CONV G17/G22 GEN4 15RD Made a Bold First Impression
As an outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’m always on the lookout for tools that enhance training without breaking the bank. The ADV ARMS .22 LR CONV G17/G22 GEN4 15RD conversion kit promised exactly that: affordable, realistic practice with my existing Glock platform. It offered the allure of cheaper ammunition and reduced recoil for extended range time.
For years, I’ve longed for a way to train more frequently without emptying my wallet on 9mm ammo. High volume drills are crucial, but the cost adds up fast. This conversion kit, with its promise of converting my Glock 17 into a .22 LR platform, seemed like the perfect solution.
Unboxing the ADV ARMS .22 LR CONV G17/G22 GEN4 15RD, I was immediately impressed by the included range bag. The kit felt solid, with a reassuring weight that hinted at quality materials. The matte black finish gave it a tactical aesthetic that blended seamlessly with my Glock 17 Gen4.
I considered the Glock 44, a dedicated .22 LR pistol. I also looked at similar conversion kits from other manufacturers, but ADV ARMS‘ reputation for reliability and the inclusion of two 15-round magazines swayed me. The optics-ready design was a huge selling point too, as I plan to eventually mount a red dot.
My first impression was one of excitement mixed with cautious optimism. Could this conversion kit truly deliver the cost-effective training solution I desperately needed? Only time and rounds downrange would tell.
Real-World Testing: Putting ADV ARMS .22 LR CONV G17/G22 GEN4 15RD to the Test
First Use Experience
My first outing with the ADV ARMS .22 LR CONV G17/G22 GEN4 15RD was at my local outdoor shooting range. The weather was mild and sunny, ideal for a day of testing. I installed the conversion kit on my Glock 17 Gen4 in a matter of seconds; the swap was surprisingly intuitive.
Initially, I experienced a few failures to feed, which is common with .22 LR firearms, especially during break-in. After running a few hundred rounds of CCI Mini-Mags through the ADV ARMS conversion kit, the reliability improved dramatically. The fixed sights were surprisingly accurate, allowing me to maintain tight groupings at 15 yards.
The only initial issue was adjusting to the lighter recoil of the .22 LR compared to 9mm. This was a positive adjustment, allowing me to focus more on trigger control and sight picture. Overall, I was pleased with the initial performance and excited to continue testing.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the ADV ARMS .22 LR CONV G17/G22 GEN4 15RD has proven to be a reliable and cost-effective training tool. I’ve put thousands of rounds through it, and the conversion kit continues to perform consistently. Regular cleaning is essential, as .22 LR ammunition can be quite dirty.
There are some minor signs of wear on the slide finish, but nothing that impacts functionality. The magazines have held up remarkably well, feeding reliably with minimal issues. Cleaning is straightforward; a simple bore snake and some solvent keep everything running smoothly.
Compared to my previous attempts at affordable training, like using cheaper bulk 9mm, the ADV ARMS conversion kit is a game-changer. The reduced recoil allows for faster follow-up shots and more focused practice. It has definitely exceeded my expectations.
