The TruGlo TGTG16A6 Tru-See Gunslinger Target Black/Green Self-Adhesive Heavy Paper Universal Fluorescent Green 6 Pack Made a Bold First Impression
After a decade spent honing my skills with firearms and tactical gear, I’ve learned that consistent practice is paramount, but effective practice requires effective tools, and the target is where it all begins. That’s why I was intrigued by the TruGlo TGTG16A6 Tru-See Gunslinger Target Black/Green Self-Adhesive Heavy Paper Universal Fluorescent Green 6 Pack. The promise of high visibility, self-adhesive convenience, and extended target life definitely piqued my interest.
My shooting accuracy had plateaued, and I was looking for a way to easily visualize my groupings and make faster adjustments at the range. I was tired of squinting at distant targets and wasting time walking downrange to check my progress. The TruGlo targets promised a solution.
Upon receiving the TruGlo TGTG16A6 Tru-See Gunslinger Target Black/Green Self-Adhesive Heavy Paper Universal Fluorescent Green 6 Pack, my initial impression was positive. The targets felt sturdy, not flimsy like some cheaper options I’ve encountered. The black and green color scheme popped, and the self-adhesive backing seemed promisingly strong. Compared to standard paper targets requiring stapling or taping, the self-adhesive feature felt like a significant upgrade in terms of convenience.
I considered other targets, including some reactive steel targets and more traditional bullseye paper targets. However, the reactive targets are expensive and not always practical for indoor ranges. The paper targets lack the immediate feedback that the TruGlo targets promised with their fluorescent green halo. I chose the TruGlo targets for their balance of visibility, convenience, and price.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The targets looked great, but I was eager to see how they performed in real-world conditions. I was hoping they would live up to the hype and help me improve my shooting skills.
Real-World Testing: Putting TruGlo TGTG16A6 Tru-See Gunslinger Target Black/Green Self-Adhesive Heavy Paper Universal Fluorescent Green 6 Pack to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the TruGlo targets at my local indoor shooting range, using both pistol (9mm and .45 ACP) and rifle (.223 and 7.62×39). The range was well-lit, but even so, the fluorescent green outlines of the targets stood out clearly. Attaching the targets to the backstop was incredibly easy thanks to the self-adhesive backing.
The performance was immediately impressive. The fluorescent green halo around each bullet hole was highly visible, even at 25 yards with a pistol. This instant feedback allowed me to quickly assess my groupings and make adjustments to my stance and grip. I experienced no issues with the targets tearing or falling off the backstop during my initial session.
One minor surprise was the size of the fluorescent halo. With larger caliber rounds, the halo was quite large, potentially obscuring smaller groupings. However, this was easily mitigated by using the provided self-adhesive replacement dots to cover up the larger holes.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, the TruGlo targets have proven to be remarkably durable. Even after repeated use with high-powered rifles, the heavy paper stock has held up well. I’ve noticed minimal tearing or fragmentation, and the self-adhesive backing remains surprisingly strong.
The targets have shown minimal wear and tear, even after being subjected to hundreds of rounds. The fluorescent green halos still pop, although they do fade slightly after prolonged exposure to bright light. Cleaning is essentially non-existent; you simply replace the target when it’s too riddled with holes.
Compared to my previous experiences with cheaper paper targets, the TruGlo targets are a clear winner. They provide superior visibility, durability, and ease of use. The self-adhesive backing alone saves a significant amount of time and effort. They definitely outperform my expectations.
