CALD 12IN SIGHT IN TARGET 25 SHEETS Review

The CALD 12IN SIGHT IN TARGET 25 SHEETS Made a Bold First Impression

The CALD 12IN SIGHT IN TARGET 25 SHEETS immediately caught my eye with its promise of being a simple, effective, and affordable solution for sighting in firearms. As someone who spends a considerable amount of time at the range, I’m always on the lookout for tools that streamline the process. The CALDWELL brand, known for its practical shooting accessories, further piqued my interest, making this a must-try item for my kit.

My aging eyes have been finding it more difficult to acquire a clear sight picture, so consistent and well-designed targets are increasingly important. I was looking for a target that was large enough to easily see at various distances and that offered clear, defined aiming points. The claim of being specifically designed for sighting in rifles and pistols made it a strong contender amongst the sea of paper targets out there.

Unboxing the CALD 12IN SIGHT IN TARGET 25 SHEETS was straightforward. The 25 sheets of paper targets were neatly packaged, arriving without any creases or damage. The paper stock felt adequate, suggesting a reasonable balance between tear resistance and ease of marking bullet holes.

Compared to some generic bullseye targets I’ve used in the past, the CALD 12IN SIGHT IN TARGET 25 SHEETS stood out due to its clear, high-contrast design. I also considered the Birchwood Casey EzeScorer targets, but opted for the CALDWELL product due to the larger quantity of sheets for a comparable price. My initial impression was positive; the targets seemed well-suited for their intended purpose.

Real-World Testing: Putting CALD 12IN SIGHT IN TARGET 25 SHEETS to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the CALD 12IN SIGHT IN TARGET 25 SHEETS at my local outdoor shooting range, setting them up at distances of 25, 50, and 100 yards. The weather was partly cloudy, with a slight breeze, providing relatively standard shooting conditions. I used a variety of firearms, including a .22LR rifle, a 9mm pistol, and a .223 AR-15.

The CALD 12IN SIGHT IN TARGET 25 SHEETS performed well under these conditions. The high-contrast design made it easy to acquire a clear sight picture even at the 100-yard distance with the .223. There was no noticeable glare, even with the sun peeking through the clouds, which is a common issue with some cheaper targets.

Using the targets was simple and intuitive. They were easy to attach to the target frame using staples. After the first few shots, I was able to quickly assess my point of impact and make necessary adjustments to my sights. I didn’t experience any significant issues during this initial testing session.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of consistent use, the CALD 12IN SIGHT IN TARGET 25 SHEETS have held up well. I’ve used them in a variety of weather conditions, including light rain and moderate heat. The paper stock is reasonably durable. It hasn’t torn easily under normal handling, although prolonged exposure to moisture will weaken it.

The targets have shown minimal wear and tear. The printed grid lines and aiming points remain clear and legible, even after being shot multiple times. Cleaning up the targets is simple. They are disposable, so I just remove them from the target frame and discard them after each session.

Compared to previous experiences with other targets, the CALD 12IN SIGHT IN TARGET 25 SHEETS offer a good balance of quality, price, and usability. They outperform many cheaper, generic targets in terms of visibility and durability. While they may not be as robust as some premium, self-healing targets, they offer excellent value for the price.
