The Timber Creek Outdoors Self Healing Target Orange Rimfire & Pistol Made a Bold First Impression
The Timber Creek Outdoors Self Healing Target Orange Rimfire & Pistol promises a durable and reusable target solution for rimfire and pistol enthusiasts. Timber Creek Outdoors aims to deliver quality and innovation, even in seemingly simple products like targets. I was drawn to this target because of the promise of “self-healing,” hoping it would offer a more sustainable and less wasteful alternative to traditional paper targets.
My usual range trips involve a frustrating cycle of setting up paper targets, tearing them down, and contributing to the ever-growing pile of cardboard and paper waste. I needed a solution that was both convenient and environmentally conscious. The Timber Creek Outdoors Self Healing Target Orange Rimfire & Pistol appeared to address this need directly.
Unboxing it, I immediately noticed the vibrant orange color and the seemingly robust material. The target felt substantial, hinting at its ability to withstand repeated impacts. It was definitely a step up from the flimsy paper and cardboard I was used to.
I considered several similar self-healing targets from other manufacturers like Caldwell and Birchwood Casey. I ultimately chose the Timber Creek Outdoors target due to its compact size, promising self-healing capabilities, and competitive price point. The other options either seemed too bulky for easy transport or carried a significantly higher price tag.
My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. The target looked promising, but the true test would be its performance on the range. I was eager to see if it lived up to the “self-healing” claim and offered a more enjoyable and sustainable shooting experience.
Real-World Testing: Putting Timber Creek Outdoors Self Healing Target Orange Rimfire & Pistol to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Timber Creek Outdoors Self Healing Target Orange Rimfire & Pistol at my local outdoor shooting range. I set it up at a distance of 25 yards using a simple target stand. The weather was mild and dry, providing ideal conditions for testing.
The target performed admirably with .22 LR rounds and 9mm pistol rounds. The rounds passed cleanly through the target. It was immediately evident that the “self-healing” aspect was working, as the entry and exit holes sealed noticeably within seconds.
The target was easy to set up and required no real getting-used-to period. It’s a simple, straightforward design. The bright orange color made it easy to spot even at a distance, further enhancing the shooting experience.
My only surprise after the first use was how well the target actually held up. I expected some minor tearing or deformation, but it maintained its shape and integrity remarkably well. I was impressed.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the Timber Creek Outdoors Self Healing Target Orange Rimfire & Pistol continues to impress. It has withstood hundreds of rounds from both rimfire rifles and pistols. The “self-healing” properties have remained consistent over time.
While there are some minor surface blemishes and slight deformation around the impact zones, the target is still fully functional and shows no signs of significant wear and tear. It appears to be exceptionally durable, far exceeding my initial expectations.
Maintenance is incredibly simple. I occasionally wipe it down with a damp cloth to remove any accumulated residue from the bullets. No other care is required.
Compared to my previous experiences with paper and cardboard targets, the Timber Creek Outdoors target is a clear winner. It’s more convenient, more durable, and significantly less wasteful. It has transformed my range trips for the better.
