My old shotgun, a reliable workhorse, was starting to feel cumbersome, especially in dense brush. I needed a solution for easier storage and a more personalized fit for various shooting stances. When I saw the Dickinson Arms stock kit advertised at $76.99, I decided it was worth the investment to improve my shotgun’s versatility.

Real-World Testing: Putting Dickinson Arms XX3T2 COMMANDO 12GA Folding Tactical Buttstock with Pistol Grip to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Dickinson Arms XX3T2 COMMANDO 12GA Folding Tactical Buttstock with Pistol Grip at my local shooting range and during a weekend hunting trip in the Ozark National Forest. The range allowed me to dial in the length-of-pull, while the hunt put its maneuverability to the test in thick foliage. I wanted to see how the Dickinson Arms stock would fare in real-world conditions.
During the range session, the weather was mild and dry, offering ideal shooting conditions. The hunting trip, however, brought a mix of light rain and damp conditions, challenging the grip and durability of the polymer stock. Despite the range being ideal, the weather was much less than ideal in the Ozarks.
Installation was straightforward, but adjusting the length-of-pull required some tinkering to find the perfect fit. The pistol grip felt immediately more comfortable than the original stock, and the folding mechanism was easy to operate. I didn’t anticipate the adjustment process, but it made a huge difference.
After the first few shots at the range, I noticed a significant reduction in felt recoil thanks to the integrated recoil pad. During the hunt, the compact, folded stock proved invaluable when navigating dense thickets. I was pleasantly surprised by the improvement in recoil management and maneuverability.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use, the Dickinson Arms XX3T2 COMMANDO 12GA Folding Tactical Buttstock with Pistol Grip has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of cracking or significant wear on the polymer stock, even after repeated use and exposure to varying weather conditions. The folding mechanism still operates smoothly and securely.
I’ve noticed some minor scuff marks on the recoil pad, but it hasn’t affected its performance. The textured pistol grip remains secure and provides a comfortable, non-slip hold, even when wet. The only maintenance required has been a simple wipe-down after each use to remove dirt and debris.
Cleaning is simple: I typically wipe it down with a damp cloth and occasionally use a polymer-safe cleaner to remove stubborn dirt. Compared to my previous fixed stock, the Dickinson Arms stock offers a noticeable improvement in comfort, control, and ease of use. It has exceeded my expectations in terms of durability and functionality.
