Escort Escort Slugger 12GA Folding Tactical Buttstock with Pistol Grip Review

The Escort Escort Slugger 12GA Folding Tactical Buttstock with Pistol Grip Made a Bold First Impression

Shotguns, in their raw, unadulterated form, are formidable tools. However, sometimes you need more than just raw power; you need adaptability and control. That’s where the Escort Escort Slugger 12GA Folding Tactical Buttstock with Pistol Grip comes into play, promising to transform your trusty smoothbore into a more versatile and manageable platform. This isn’t just an accessory; it’s a commitment to maximizing the potential of your shotgun.

I’ve always been a proponent of modularity in my gear. Finding that sweet spot between storage, maneuverability, and operational readiness has been the white whale for many years now. I needed a way to compact my shotgun for storage in my truck while maintaining a solid, repeatable grip when needed. This solution seemed to fit the bill.

Upon unboxing the Escort Escort Slugger 12GA Folding Tactical Buttstock with Pistol Grip, I was immediately struck by the robust feel of the polymer. The texture of the pistol grip felt grippy and secure, instilling confidence right out of the box. My initial impression was that it was a well-made piece of kit, seemingly designed for the rigors of tactical use.

I had been considering a similar stock from Magpul, as well as a less expensive option from a generic brand on Amazon. The Escort Escort Slugger 12GA Folding Tactical Buttstock with Pistol Grip struck me as a good balance of quality and value, and, frankly, the folding mechanism intrigued me. Its reputation for reliability also edged it out against the cheaper, unbranded alternatives. I hoped to improve handling without breaking the bank.

My first impression was one of cautious optimism. I was eager to see how it performed in the field, and if it could truly live up to its promise of enhanced versatility and control. The initial feel was good, but the real test would be how it translated to real-world use.

Real-World Testing: Putting Escort Escort Slugger 12GA Folding Tactical Buttstock with Pistol Grip to the Test

First Use Experience

My first outing with the Escort Escort Slugger 12GA Folding Tactical Buttstock with Pistol Grip was at my local shooting range. I wanted to gauge its performance in a controlled environment before taking it out into the field. I primarily focused on target acquisition and recoil management.

The weather was fairly typical for early spring: a mix of sun and intermittent showers. During the light rain, the pistol grip remained surprisingly secure. The length-of-pull adjustment was quick and easy, allowing me to dial in a comfortable fit within seconds.

The transition to the pistol grip took a few rounds to get used to, but the enhanced control was immediately noticeable. I experienced no problems during installation. I noticed that recoil was slightly reduced, and follow-up shots were quicker and more accurate than with the factory stock.

There were no immediate issues after the first session. However, the folding mechanism felt a little stiff. It needed a bit of force to lock into place, raising a minor concern about its long-term durability.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks and multiple range sessions, the Escort Escort Slugger 12GA Folding Tactical Buttstock with Pistol Grip has held up surprisingly well. The polymer stock shows no signs of cracking or deformation. The matte finish resists scratches and scuffs.

The only real wear and tear is some slight abrasion on the recoil pad, but this is purely cosmetic. The folding mechanism has loosened up a bit with use, making it easier to operate. The length-of-pull adjustment continues to function smoothly.

Cleaning the stock is straightforward; a simple wipe-down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient. I’ve also used a mild solvent to remove stubborn grime and powder residue. I believe this stock will have no problem giving years of service.

I’ve previously used other tactical stocks on various shotguns. This one exceeds my expectations in terms of ergonomics and recoil management for the price. It provides a significant upgrade over the factory stock, offering greater comfort and control without adding excessive weight.
