The FAB Defense GL-Core CP Buttstock with Adjustable Cheekrest Matte Black Synthetic for AR15/M4 promises enhanced ergonomics and adjustability for AR platform rifles. FAB Defense aims to provide a comfortable and functional upgrade with this model, featuring an adjustable cheek rest and durable construction. I needed a solution to improve my cheek weld on my AR-15 while using a magnified optic; the factory stock simply wasn’t cutting it.
Unboxing the GL-Core CP, I immediately noticed the robust, yet lightweight feel of the reinforced polymer. The matte black finish gave it a tactical aesthetic, and the adjustable cheek rest seemed sturdy and well-designed. Several buttstocks claim adjustability, but often fail on execution and build quality; this one feels different. My initial impression was excitement – this could be the perfect solution for my AR.
Real-World Testing: Putting FAB Defense GL-Core CP Buttstock with Adjustable Cheekrest Matte Black Synthetic for AR15/M4 to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the FAB Defense GL-Core CP primarily at my local shooting range during a practical rifle course. The weather was typical for early spring: cool with intermittent rain showers. Adjusting the cheek rest was simple, allowing me to quickly achieve a consistent and comfortable cheek weld with my optic. After just a few minutes of use I immediately noticed an improvement in rifle stability when compared to the factory stock.
The GL-Core CP performed admirably, even with wet hands. The rubberized buttpad provided excellent grip against my shoulder, preventing slippage during rapid firing drills. There were no issues with the adjustment mechanism slipping or loosening during use. The FAB Defense stock significantly improved my consistency and speed during target transitions.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the FAB Defense GL-Core CP continues to hold up well. There are no signs of cracking or excessive wear on the polymer construction. Cleaning is simple; a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth removes any dirt or grime. I’ve previously used adjustable stocks with flimsy adjustment mechanisms that fail after limited use.
This FAB Defense stock outperforms those previous experiences in terms of durability and ease of adjustment. It’s become an integral part of my AR setup, enhancing both comfort and performance.
