The Duty Staggered Double Pistol TACO | Black Made a Bold First Impression
The world of tactical gear is saturated with options, but the Duty Staggered Double Pistol TACO | Black from High Speed Gear (HSGI) immediately cuts through the noise. It promises to be a versatile and reliable solution for carrying pistol magazines and other essential gear. I was drawn to this pouch because I needed a streamlined, adaptable system to consolidate my carry and eliminate the bulk of traditional magazine pouches during duty shifts and range days.
My primary concern was finding a durable, low-profile pouch capable of holding various pistol magazine sizes securely. Unboxing the Duty Staggered Double Pistol TACO | Black, I was immediately impressed by the robust feel of the materials and the clean, professional aesthetic. The HSGI clips felt incredibly sturdy, and the staggered configuration looked like it would save significant space on my belt.
I considered the standard HSGI Double Pistol TACO and the Blue Force Gear Ten-Speed Double Pistol Mag Pouch before ultimately choosing the Duty Staggered Double Pistol TACO | Black. The standard TACO seemed a bit too bulky for my needs, and the Ten-Speed, while lightweight, didn’t offer the same level of retention and versatility. This pouch seemed to offer the best of both worlds: a slim profile with the adaptable retention HSGI is known for.
My initial reaction was excitement; the Duty Staggered Double Pistol TACO | Black appeared to be exactly what I needed to optimize my gear setup. I was eager to test its performance and see if it lived up to the hype surrounding HSGI products.
Real-World Testing: Putting Duty Staggered Double Pistol TACO | Black to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial testing took place at an outdoor shooting range, focusing on draw speed and magazine retention. The Duty Staggered Double Pistol TACO | Black was mounted on my duty belt alongside my sidearm. I ran drills involving rapid reloads, movement, and transitions between multiple targets.
The weather was slightly humid, which often causes issues with grip, but the magazines remained securely in place throughout the testing. The staggered configuration proved immediately beneficial, allowing me to draw magazines smoothly without fumbling or snagging. No issues arose during the first use, and the retention was easily adjustable via the internal shock cord.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, including weekly range sessions and simulated tactical scenarios, the Duty Staggered Double Pistol TACO | Black has proven remarkably durable. There are no signs of significant wear and tear on the exterior or the HSGI clips. The hidden shock cord shows no signs of degradation or fraying.
Maintenance is straightforward: a simple wipe-down with a damp cloth is sufficient to remove dirt and debris. Compared to my previous experiences with traditional leather and nylon magazine pouches, the Duty Staggered Double Pistol TACO | Black represents a significant improvement in both performance and longevity. It consistently outperforms those older pouches, providing faster access and greater security.
