The HIGH SPEED GEAR Mini Pistol TACO Polymer Black Made a Bold First Impression
As a gear specialist, I’ve handled countless magazine pouches. However, the HIGH SPEED GEAR Mini Pistol TACO Polymer Black immediately stood out with its promise of versatility and durability in a compact package. My search for a reliable, adaptable pouch for various pistol magazine sizes led me to this HIGH SPEED GEAR offering. The sleek polymer construction and TACO design hinted at a product that could finally solve my magazine-carry woes.
Unboxing the Mini Pistol TACO, I was struck by the rigidity and the almost industrial look of the polymer. It felt robust, like it could withstand serious abuse, yet surprisingly lightweight. The bungee cord lacing gave it a unique, almost custom-fit appearance, promising adaptability to different magazine sizes.
Compared to traditional nylon pouches, or even some kydex models, the Mini Pistol TACO seemed to offer a unique blend of retention and accessibility. I’d been using a rigid kydex pouch that was great for one specific magazine, and a nylon pouch that was okay for everything but great for nothing. My initial reaction was excitement, tinged with a bit of skepticism about whether the bungee system could truly deliver on its promise of universal fit.
Real-World Testing: Putting HIGH SPEED GEAR Mini Pistol TACO Polymer Black to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test of the HIGH SPEED GEAR Mini Pistol TACO Polymer Black was at an outdoor shooting range. It was a typical range day – sunny, but with a slight breeze kicking up dust. I ran it with a Glock 19 magazine, a Sig Sauer P320 magazine, and even a single-stack 1911 magazine.
The TACO performed admirably, holding each magazine securely with no slippage even during rapid movement drills. Drawing the magazines was smooth and consistent, with just the right amount of retention. I didn’t need any significant adjustment period to get accustomed to the draw. The only minor issue was that the single-stack magazine felt a bit loose, but it never threatened to fall out.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of weekly range visits and occasional use in force-on-force training scenarios, the HIGH SPEED GEAR Mini Pistol TACO Polymer Black has proven to be remarkably durable. There are no signs of significant wear and tear. The polymer body shows no scratches or cracks, and the bungee cord, despite constant stretching, retains its elasticity.
Maintaining the pouch is incredibly simple. A quick wipe-down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove dirt and grime. Compared to nylon pouches that can absorb sweat and require washing, the polymer TACO is a breeze to keep clean. It has exceeded my expectations in terms of both durability and low maintenance.
