The Tethrd SYS Hauler (Coyote or Olive) Made a Bold First Impression
Saddle hunting is all about minimalism and efficiency, and the Tethrd SYS Hauler (Coyote or Olive) promises to deliver just that: a streamlined storage solution designed specifically for saddle hunters. From Tethrd, a name synonymous with innovation in the saddle hunting world, this hauler is designed to be both functional and unobtrusive. It claims to solve the age-old problem of carrying essential gear without adding unnecessary bulk or weight.
I was constantly battling with overloaded backpacks and gear hanging haphazardly off my saddle. I needed a compact, reliable system to organize my calls, rangefinder, and other small essentials without compromising my mobility or stealth. I needed something that wouldn’t tangle with my bow or interfere with my shots.
Upon receiving the SYS Hauler, I was immediately impressed by its lightweight design. The materials felt durable, and the quick-connect system looked intuitive and easy to use. The Coyote color option (I also considered Olive) offered excellent camouflage for my usual hunting spots.
I considered other options like the Hawk Treestand Accessory Pouch and the Muddy Outdoors Universal Gear Attachments. However, the Tethrd SYS Hauler’s dedicated saddle hunting design and the promise of one-handed operation sealed the deal. I chose Tethrd because I trust them as a company.
My first impression was positive and full of anticipation. The minimalist design and the promise of improved organization had me eager to put the SYS Hauler to the test.
Real-World Testing: Putting Tethrd SYS Hauler (Coyote or Olive) to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Tethrd SYS Hauler (Coyote or Olive) during a week-long whitetail hunt in the Appalachian foothills of Pennsylvania. The terrain was steep, the weather was unpredictable, and the conditions demanded both comfort and efficiency. I attached the hauler to my saddle using the quick-connect system, loaded it with my rangefinder, grunt call, wind checker, and knife, and headed into the woods.
The SYS Hauler performed admirably, even in light rain. Everything stayed dry, and the easy access allowed me to quickly retrieve items without fumbling or making unnecessary noise. I found the one-handed operation to be surprisingly effective; it allowed me to keep one hand free for my bow or to steady myself on steep inclines.
Initially, I had some concern about the hauler swinging while I climbed. However, the snug fit against my saddle minimized movement. This made my hunt much smoother and easier overall.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the Tethrd SYS Hauler (Coyote or Olive) has proven to be a reliable and durable piece of kit. There are no signs of significant wear and tear despite being exposed to various weather conditions and rough terrain. The stitching remains intact, the fabric hasn’t faded, and the quick-connect system still functions flawlessly.
Cleaning the SYS Hauler is simple. A quick wipe-down with a damp cloth removes mud, dirt, and debris. I’ve even put it through a gentle cycle in the washing machine without any issues.
Compared to my previous experiences with using a standard fanny pack strapped to my saddle, the SYS Hauler is a game-changer. It is lighter, more streamlined, and more accessible, significantly improving my overall hunting experience.
