Boyt Harness 0PP650009 Rectangular Pistol Rug Handgun OD Green Canvas 13″ x 7″ Review

The Boyt Harness 0PP650009 Rectangular Pistol Rug Handgun OD Green Canvas 13″ x 7″ Made a Bold First Impression

I’ve spent over a decade safeguarding my firearms, from trusty sidearms to prized hunting rifles. During that time, I have become keenly aware of the importance of secure and discreet storage, especially when transporting them to the range or field. That’s why the Boyt Harness 0PP650009 Rectangular Pistol Rug Handgun OD Green Canvas 13″ x 7″ immediately caught my eye – a seemingly simple, yet potentially indispensable accessory for any responsible gun owner.

My need was simple: a low-profile, affordable case for transporting my compact 9mm to the range. I was tired of using bulky, hard-sided cases for quick trips. The Boyt Harness rug seemed like a much more practical solution for discreet carry within a larger bag or backpack.

Upon receiving the Boyt Harness pistol rug, my first impression was one of understated quality. The OD Green canvas feels durable and the stitching is clean. It isn’t flashy, but it communicates a sense of functional reliability. Compared to similar soft cases I’ve used from Allen or Plano, the Boyt Harness offering felt a bit more robust, though lacking the extra pockets some others provided. The choice was simple: quality and simplicity trumped added storage in this instance. I was excited to see how it would perform in real-world situations.

Real-World Testing: Putting Boyt Harness 0PP650009 Rectangular Pistol Rug Handgun OD Green Canvas 13″ x 7″ to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial test of the Boyt Harness 0PP650009 Rectangular Pistol Rug Handgun OD Green Canvas 13″ x 7″ was at my local shooting range. I needed something simple and discreet. I slipped my Glock 19 into the rug and placed it inside my range bag. It was a far cry from the usual hard case.

The rug performed admirably. Despite being tossed around in my bag, the pistol remained snug and protected. The full length zipper made access quick and easy. The only surprise was how easily the canvas material seemed to pick up some range dust and debris, something I would later address in maintenance.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of use, the Boyt Harness pistol rug has become a regular part of my range routine. It has also accompanied me on a few camping trips. I needed to store my sidearm securely inside my backpack. The OD Green canvas has proven surprisingly resilient.

There are no signs of tearing or seam separation. The zipper still operates smoothly. Cleaning is a breeze; a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth removes most dirt and grime. Compared to cheaper cases I’ve owned, this Boyt Harness rug offers a clear step up in durability, which is important because I need something reliable that will last.
