The NcStar AR15 and AK Deluxe Carbine Pistol Case Urban Gray Made a Bold First Impression
The NcStar AR15 and AK Deluxe Carbine Pistol Case Urban Gray promised a solution to a problem I, and many others in the tactical community, face: safely and discreetly transporting multiple AR/AK pistols or SBRs without breaking the bank. Coming from NcStar, a brand known for its budget-friendly options, I approached this case with a mix of hope and skepticism, eager to see if it could deliver on its claims. It appeared to be the ideal way to move my AR and AK pistols, securely and without drawing unwanted attention.
For years, I’ve struggled with bulky, hard-sided cases that screamed “gun inside!” or flimsy soft cases that offered little protection. The NcStar case, with its urban gray color and unassuming design, seemed to offer a better balance between security and discretion. The promise of carrying two firearms plus magazines and gear in a single, affordable package was certainly appealing.
Upon receiving the case, my first impression was positive. The urban gray PVC material felt surprisingly robust, and the overall construction seemed solid. The case was bigger than I anticipated, easily accommodating two of my AR pistols with room to spare. I immediately appreciated the padded divider and securing straps, offering a level of protection often absent in similarly priced cases. While I’ve owned cases from brands like Voodoo Tactical and Savior Equipment, the NcStar case’s price point made it an interesting alternative, especially if it held up to real-world use. I was excited to put it through its paces.
Real-World Testing: Putting **NcStar AR15 and AK Deluxe Carbine Pistol Case Urban Gray** to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial test for the NcStar AR15 and AK Deluxe Carbine Pistol Case Urban Gray was a trip to my local shooting range. I needed to transport two AR pistols and several magazines. The case swallowed everything easily.
The padded divider prevented any unwanted scratches or dings during transit. The hook and loop straps kept the firearms securely in place even during some bumpy rides. I was initially worried about the durability of the plastic buckles, but they held up fine during my first use.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the NcStar AR15 and AK Deluxe Carbine Pistol Case Urban Gray has proven to be surprisingly durable. There are no rips or tears in the PVC material. The stitching is all intact.
The zippers are still functioning smoothly, though I did apply some silicone lubricant to ensure they continued to operate without issue. The urban gray color hides dirt and scuffs well. Minimal maintenance is required aside from occasional wiping down. Compared to some higher-end cases I’ve used in the past, the NcStar case does not feel as premium, but it certainly holds its own in terms of overall reliability and value for money.

The NcStar AR15 and AK Deluxe Carbine Pistol Case Urban Gray performs its primary job well: securely transporting firearms. The padded interior and securing straps keep everything in place. The external pockets provide ample storage for magazines and accessories.
While the NcStar case may not offer the same level of robust protection as a hard-sided case, it strikes a good balance between protection, portability, and affordability. Design & Ergonomics
The design of the NcStar AR15 and AK Deluxe Carbine Pistol Case Urban Gray prioritizes functionality over aesthetics. The urban gray color is practical and unassuming. The padded carry handles are comfortable to grip.
The adjustable shoulder strap adds versatility for hands-free transport. There isn’t a steep learning curve. The placement of the pockets is intuitive. The overall build quality is adequate, though some may find the PVC material less premium than ballistic nylon used in more expensive cases.
Durability & Maintenance
The heavy-duty PVC material of the NcStar AR15 and AK Deluxe Carbine Pistol Case Urban Gray is reasonably durable, withstanding normal wear and tear from range trips and storage. The stitching appears to be well-executed. The padded interior protects the firearms from scratches and impacts.
Maintenance is straightforward; the PVC material can be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth. Regular lubrication of the zippers will help ensure smooth operation. While the case is not designed for extreme conditions, it should last several years with proper care.

The NcStar AR15 and AK Deluxe Carbine Pistol Case Urban Gray doesn’t come with a plethora of accessories, but its design allows for some level of customization. The external pockets can accommodate various magazine pouches, cleaning kits, or small tools.
The internal hook and loop straps are compatible with aftermarket accessories designed to secure firearms within a case. The large metal D-rings allow for the attachment of different shoulder straps or carry handles. While the case itself is not modular, its basic design makes it adaptable to individual needs.
