The MDT LARGE CANISTER REG FILL Shooting Bag Large Coyote Made a Bold First Impression
Shooting bags are often overlooked, but a quality one can significantly improve accuracy and stability, especially for precision shooting. The MDT LARGE CANISTER REG FILL Shooting Bag Large Coyote promises to be just that: a rock-solid, reliable platform for steadying your rifle. MDT is known for its quality chassis systems and rifle accessories, so my expectations were high. I was looking for a bag that could handle the recoil of my .308 and provide consistent support on uneven terrain.
What led me to the MDT LARGE CANISTER REG FILL Shooting Bag Large Coyote was the need for a versatile and portable shooting rest. I often shoot from improvised positions in the field, and a traditional bipod isn’t always the best option. I need something that adapts to various shooting scenarios.
Upon unboxing, the MDT LARGE CANISTER REG FILL Shooting Bag Large Coyote feels robust and well-made. The 500D Cordura construction inspires confidence, and the coyote color is a practical choice for blending into natural environments. The size, at 8″x5.75″, seems ideal for providing ample support without being too bulky to carry.
I considered other options like the Armageddon Gear Game Changer and the WieBad Mini Tac Pillow. The Armageddon Gear bag is excellent, but pricier, and the WieBad pillow is smaller and more suited for barricade shooting. I chose the MDT LARGE CANISTER REG FILL Shooting Bag Large Coyote because it seemed to offer a good balance of size, stability, and value.
My first impression was positive. The bag feels solid, the stitching is clean, and the MDT logo is tastefully applied. I was eager to put it to the test and see if it lives up to its potential.
Real-World Testing: Putting MDT LARGE CANISTER REG FILL Shooting Bag Large Coyote to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the MDT LARGE CANISTER REG FILL Shooting Bag Large Coyote at my local shooting range, primarily using it with my .308 bolt-action rifle. The range has a variety of shooting benches and prone positions, providing a good testing ground for different shooting scenarios.
The bag performed admirably in dry conditions. It provided a stable platform for both benchrest and prone shooting. Its cylindrical shape allows for easy adjustments in elevation, providing a rock-solid rest.
The MDT LARGE CANISTER REG FILL Shooting Bag Large Coyote was easy to use right out of the box. No adjustment or break-in period was needed. Simply place it under the forend of your rifle, and you’re good to go.
I initially noticed that the “regular fill” felt a bit too firm for my liking. I prefer a bag that conforms slightly more to the rifle. However, the firmness also contributes to its stability, so it’s a trade-off.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the MDT LARGE CANISTER REG FILL Shooting Bag Large Coyote has held up remarkably well. The 500D Cordura shows no signs of wear and tear, despite being dragged across various surfaces and exposed to sunlight.
The bag has proven to be exceptionally durable. The stitching remains intact, and the fill material hasn’t shifted or compressed significantly. It maintains its shape and structural integrity even after repeated use.
Maintenance is simple. I’ve wiped it down with a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust, and that’s about it. The Cordura fabric is resistant to stains and easy to clean.
In comparison to my previous experience with cheaper shooting bags, the MDT LARGE CANISTER REG FILL Shooting Bag Large Coyote is a significant upgrade. It provides far more stability and consistency than other bags I’ve used in the past. The MDT bag is a noticeable improvement, making for tighter groupings and more confident shots.
