Real-World Testing: Putting SiOnyx Aurora Color Night Vision Action Camera – Carry Case, Battery, Neck Strap Accessories, USB Rechargeable Battery Battery, Carrying Case & Neck Strap Case to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial testing took place during a weekend camping trip in the remote Allegheny National Forest. I aimed to capture footage of local wildlife like deer and owls under starlight. The SiOnyx Aurora was mounted on a small tripod and positioned to overlook a clearing known for animal activity.
The camera performed remarkably well in the low-light conditions. Even without moonlight, I was able to capture recognizable color footage of deer grazing. The image wasn’t perfect – some noise was present, and the colors weren’t as vibrant as in daylight – but the ability to discern colors at night was genuinely impressive. The user interface took a little getting used to, but after an hour of fiddling with the settings, I felt comfortable navigating the menus. My only initial issue was battery life; the first battery drained faster than expected, emphasizing the need for the included spare.
