My journey to this particular grip began with a desire to improve the ergonomics of my Dan Wesson Model 15-2. The original grips, while functional, lacked the refined feel and positive control I was seeking for extended range sessions and potential hunting scenarios. I unboxed the Hogue Dan Wesson Handgun Grip Large Frame Coco Bolo Checkered 58801 with eager anticipation. The immediate impression was one of quality; the wood was beautifully finished, and the checkering was sharp and precise.
I considered other options like Pachmayr rubber grips for their shock absorption or Micarta grips for their rugged durability. Ultimately, I chose the Hogue coco bolo grips for their balance of aesthetics, secure grip, and enhanced feel. My first impression was overwhelmingly positive; the grips felt substantial and luxurious, hinting at a significant improvement in my shooting experience.
