Ameriglo Defoor Tactical for Glock Iron Sight Set Review

The Ameriglo Defoor Tactical for Glock Iron Sight Set Made a Bold First Impression

As a seasoned tactical gear specialist, I’ve seen countless Glock sight options come and go, each promising enhanced performance. However, the Ameriglo Defoor Tactical for Glock Iron Sight Set immediately caught my eye with its minimalist design and reputation for practical functionality. I needed a robust, no-nonsense sight system for my everyday carry Glock 19, something that wouldn’t snag on clothing or complicate a quick draw.

My aging factory Glock sights were simply not cutting it anymore. They were blurry and difficult to acquire quickly in low-light situations. I considered tritium inserts and fiber optic options, but ultimately decided I wanted a streamlined, blacked-out setup for simplicity and versatility. This led me to researching and eventually selecting the Ameriglo Defoor Tactical for Glock Iron Sight Set.

The unboxing experience was straightforward. The sights arrived securely packaged, and the flat black finish looked incredibly durable right out of the box. My initial impression was one of solid construction and deliberate design; there was no unnecessary flash, just pure functionality. Compared to some other more elaborate aftermarket sights I’ve used, the Ameriglo Defoor Tactical for Glock Iron Sight Set seemed refreshingly simple. I was also considering Trijicon HD night sights and 10-8 Performance sights, but the Ameriglo set won out for its lower profile and the positive reviews emphasizing its focus on practical accuracy. I was excited to install them and see how they performed in real-world shooting scenarios.

Real-World Testing: Putting Ameriglo Defoor Tactical for Glock Iron Sight Set to the Test

First Use Experience

My first range trip with the Ameriglo Defoor Tactical for Glock Iron Sight Set was at my local outdoor range in less-than-ideal conditions: overcast and drizzling. The blacked-out sights might seem like a disadvantage in such low light, but the .150-inch rear notch and .115-inch front blade provided a surprisingly clear sight picture. I was able to acquire my target faster than with my old stock sights, even with the poor visibility. It took only a few magazines to get used to the sight picture, and I quickly noticed my groups tightening up.

I found the sights remarkably easy to use. The wide rear notch allowed for quick target acquisition, and the narrow front sight post provided a precise point of reference. There were no initial issues; the sights were a significant improvement over the factory Glock sights. The lack of distractions was immediately apparent.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of consistent use, the Ameriglo Defoor Tactical for Glock Iron Sight Set has proven to be exceptionally durable. I’ve put hundreds of rounds downrange, and the sights still look and function as new. There are no visible signs of wear and tear, and the flat black finish has held up remarkably well.

Maintenance is a breeze. A quick wipe-down with a lightly oiled cloth after each range session is all it takes to keep them in top condition. Compared to previous sight systems I’ve used, which required more frequent adjustments and cleaning, the Ameriglo Defoor Tactical for Glock Iron Sight Set is remarkably low-maintenance. It significantly outperforms the stock sights in every meaningful way.
