The rich rosewood, combined with the functional finger grooves and precise checkering, promises a blend of classic style and modern performance.
I’ve always believed that a firearm should be an extension of the shooter, feeling as natural in the hand as possible. The factory grips on my Colt Officer’s Model were functional, but lacked character and didn’t quite fill my hand the way I wanted. I was looking for something that would improve my grip, enhance the look of the pistol, and provide a more comfortable shooting experience, especially during extended range sessions.
Upon unboxing, I was immediately struck by the deep, warm tones of the rosewood. The grips felt substantial and well-made, with the checkering providing an aggressive yet comfortable texture. The finger grooves seemed perfectly placed, promising a secure and intuitive grip.
I considered several other grip options, including G10 grips and other wood varieties. Ultimately, I chose the Hogue rosewood grips for their classic appearance and reputation for quality. I was seeking a balance between traditional aesthetics and enhanced functionality, which this grip promised to deliver.
My first impression was one of excitement. The grips looked even better in person than in the pictures, and the quality of the craftsmanship was immediately apparent. I couldn’t wait to install them on my 1911 and see how they performed at the range.
