Let’s Dive into USED Trijicon HD Night Sights Set – Springfield XD – 1 out of 7 models
Night sights are arguably essential for any serious firearm, and the USED Trijicon HD Night Sights Set – Springfield XD – 1 out of 7 models promises enhanced visibility in low-light conditions for the popular Springfield XD pistol. These sights aren’t just about looking cool; they’re about being able to acquire your target quickly and accurately when it matters most, even when the sun goes down. As someone with over a decade in the tactical gear world, I’ve seen countless night sights come and go, so let’s see how these Trijicon HD sights stack up, especially considering they’re used.
My old Springfield XD’s factory sights were, frankly, terrible in anything less than ideal lighting. I needed a reliable, durable upgrade that could improve my confidence during nighttime training scenarios. Upon unboxing, even with the “used” tag, the sights felt solid and well-made. The tritium inserts glowed reassuringly, promising a clear sight picture even in complete darkness.
I considered AmeriGlo and Meprolight sights, both strong contenders in the night sight market. However, I chose the USED Trijicon HD Night Sights Set – Springfield XD – 1 out of 7 models because of Trijicon’s reputation for long-lasting tritium and the HD series’ focus on daytime visibility, thanks to the brightly colored front ring. My first impression was cautiously optimistic. Knowing they were used, I looked closely for damage or diminished tritium output, but they seemed to be in good shape, offering a potentially high-value upgrade.
Real-World Testing: Putting USED Trijicon HD Night Sights Set – Springfield XD – 1 out of 7 models to the Test
First Use Experience
The initial test took place at an outdoor shooting range during a late evening session, transitioning from daylight to near darkness. I wanted to immediately assess the Trijicon HD’s low-light capability. The difference compared to the factory sights was night and day (pun intended). The tritium lamps were clearly visible, and the bright orange front sight ring made target acquisition quick and intuitive.
I also tested the sights in a dusty environment, simulating a common condition during outdoor training. The sights remained functional, with the bright front ring still easily visible even with a layer of dust. There were no immediate issues, but I noticed that the rear sight dots, being blacked out in daylight, took a bit of getting used to. The focus was definitely drawn to the front, as intended, but it was a shift from traditional three-dot setups.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, including multiple range trips and dry-fire practice, the USED Trijicon HD Night Sights Set – Springfield XD – 1 out of 7 models have held up remarkably well. There were no noticeable changes in the tritium brightness. The sights remained securely mounted to the slide.
Despite being used, the sights showed minimal wear and tear beyond a few minor cosmetic scratches. The protective clear coat on the colored front ring seems to be doing its job. Cleaning was simple; a quick wipe-down with a gun cleaning solvent was sufficient to remove any powder residue. I had previously used Meprolight Tru-Dot sights on another pistol, and the Trijicon HD sights offer a brighter, more defined front sight, especially in daylight conditions.
