The Ameriglo Haven Carry Ready Combo 1x 5.0 MOA Red Dot Sight – CR2032 Battery, Fixed Magnification Magnification, 1x Fixed Magnification Made a Bold First Impression
The Ameriglo Haven Carry Ready Combo 1x 5.0 MOA Red Dot Sight – CR2032 Battery, Fixed Magnification Magnification, 1x Fixed Magnification enters a crowded market, promising a reliable and carry-ready optic solution. Ameriglo is a well-known name in the firearms industry, primarily known for its high-quality iron sights, so this red dot sight represents a venture into a new territory for them, aiming to bring their reputation for ruggedness and clarity to the pistol optic world. My aging eyes, coupled with the increasing popularity of pistol red dots, were the primary drivers in seeking out a new optic.
I had been experiencing difficulty acquiring a clear sight picture with traditional iron sights, especially in low-light conditions. The promise of faster target acquisition and improved accuracy that a red dot offers was appealing. I wanted a red dot that could withstand the rigors of daily carry and provide a clear, consistent aiming point.
The Ameriglo Haven arrived in a no-frills package, securely nestled in foam. My initial impression was positive. The optic felt solid and well-built, with a reassuring heft that spoke to its durability.
I had been considering a Trijicon RMR and a Holosun 507C before settling on the Ameriglo Haven. The RMR’s legendary reputation is undeniable, but the Ameriglo Haven offered a similar feature set at a more accessible price point. The Holosun was enticing with its multiple reticle options, but I was seeking something simple and robust, prioritizing reliability over features.
The Ameriglo Haven‘s 5.0 MOA dot and compatibility with Glock MOS platforms ultimately swayed me. I was excited to get it mounted and tested, though I did have some reservations about whether Ameriglo could truly deliver a red dot sight that could compete with the established players.
