Muddy Prevue 3 Person Ground Blind Portable Mesh Epic Camo Review

First Thoughts on the Muddy Prevue 3 Person Ground Blind Portable Mesh Epic Camo

The Muddy Prevue 3 Person Ground Blind Portable Mesh Epic Camo promises concealment and convenience for the hunter. Muddy claims this blind offers one-way see-through mesh, easy setup, and a durable construction. This combination piqued my interest, considering the common trade-offs between these features.

I needed a ground blind that could comfortably accommodate myself and a hunting buddy for deer season. My previous blind was cramped and difficult to set up silently, often spooking game before the hunt even began. The Muddy Prevue 3 Person Ground Blind Portable Mesh Epic Camo seemed to address these issues with its size and one-way mesh.

Unboxing revealed a neatly packed blind with stakes and a carry bag. The material felt reasonably sturdy, though not exceptionally heavy-duty, and the Epic Camo pattern looked effective. My initial impression was cautiously optimistic: it seemed well-designed but needed field testing.

Compared to the Ameristep Care Taker and the Primos Double Bull SurroundView, the Muddy Prevue 3 Person Ground Blind Portable Mesh Epic Camo stood out due to its combination of size, see-through mesh, and price. The Ameristep was smaller, and the Primos, while offering full visibility, was significantly more expensive. I chose the Muddy Prevue 3 Person Ground Blind Portable Mesh Epic Camo hoping for a balance of features and affordability.

I was excited to test the one-way mesh, hoping it would truly allow for unobstructed viewing without compromising concealment. If it delivered on that promise, the Muddy Prevue 3 Person Ground Blind Portable Mesh Epic Camo would be a game-changer.

Real-World Testing: Putting Muddy Prevue 3 Person Ground Blind Portable Mesh Epic Camo to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the Muddy Prevue 3 Person Ground Blind Portable Mesh Epic Camo during an early-season deer hunt in a wooded area with moderate undergrowth. The weather was mild but slightly drizzly, providing a good test for water resistance. Setup was straightforward, taking about 10 minutes, even in the soft ground.

The one-way mesh performed admirably, offering a clear view of the surrounding woods without any noticeable glare or reflection from the inside. However, I noticed that in very low light, the mesh did become slightly more transparent from the outside. The drizzly conditions tested the water resistance, and the black-backed fabric did its job, keeping us dry inside.

There were no immediate issues, and the blind provided ample space for two hunters and our gear. The silent slider window adjustment was a nice touch, allowing for quiet adjustments as deer approached.

Extended Use & Reliability

After three months of regular use, the Muddy Prevue 3 Person Ground Blind Portable Mesh Epic Camo has held up well, although some minor wear and tear is evident. The fabric shows some fading in areas exposed to direct sunlight, and one of the zipper pulls on the door entrance came loose. These issues are relatively minor and haven’t affected the blind’s functionality.

Cleaning is simple; a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth removes most dirt and debris. I store it in a dry location to prevent mold or mildew growth. Compared to my previous experiences with cheaper blinds, the Muddy Prevue 3 Person Ground Blind Portable Mesh Epic Camo is a significant upgrade in terms of durability and weather resistance. However, it does not outperform higher-end blinds in long-term wear resistance.
