Let’s Dive into Newcon Optik AN 7x50M22 Porro Prism Tactical Rangefinder Binocular
The Newcon Optik AN 7x50M22 Porro Prism Tactical Rangefinder Binocular is a serious piece of kit, designed for professionals who demand the best in optical clarity and rangefinding capability. Manufactured by Newcon Optik, a company known for its rugged and reliable military-grade optics, this binocular promises exceptional performance in challenging environments.
I needed a binocular that could accurately range targets at distance while providing exceptional clarity, especially in low-light conditions. My old binoculars just weren’t cutting it anymore, and I missed a crucial shot during a recent hunting trip because I misjudged the range.
Out of the box, the AN 7x50M22 feels incredibly robust. The weight (1363g) is substantial, but it inspires confidence in its durability. The rubber armouring provides a secure and comfortable grip, even with gloved hands.
I considered the Steiner Military Marine 7×50 and the Bushnell Fusion 1-Mile ARC binoculars. Ultimately, I chose the Newcon Optik because of its reputation for military-grade ruggedness and the promise of exceptional optical clarity in low light, as well as its integrated M22 reticle.
My first impression was one of excitement and a touch of intimidation. These binoculars feel like a serious tool, built for serious use. They exude quality and purpose.
Real-World Testing: Putting Newcon Optik AN 7x50M22 Porro Prism Tactical Rangefinder Binocular to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the AN 7x50M22 at my local shooting range, primarily focusing on ranging targets at 300-800 yards. I also took them on a backcountry hiking trip in the mountains to assess their performance in a more natural setting.
The binoculars performed admirably in both sunny and overcast conditions. The image clarity was outstanding, and the rangefinder proved accurate and easy to use after a short learning period.
Initially, I needed to spend some time familiarizing myself with the M22 reticle and its ranging capabilities. Once I understood the system, ranging became quick and intuitive.
The only issue I experienced was some slight eye fatigue after extended use. This was easily mitigated by adjusting the interpupillary distance and diopter settings.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the AN 7x50M22 continues to perform flawlessly. There are no signs of wear and tear, despite being subjected to some rough handling.
The rubber armouring has proven to be exceptionally durable, resisting scratches and abrasions. The optics remain crystal clear, even after being exposed to dust and moisture.
Cleaning is straightforward; a soft cloth and lens cleaner are all that’s needed. Regular checks of the moving parts (hinges, diopter adjustments) ensure smooth operation.
Compared to my previous binoculars, the Newcon Optik offers significantly superior optical clarity and rangefinding accuracy. The robust build quality and reliable performance have exceeded my expectations.
