What Makes Burris Handgun 3-12×32 mm Rifle Scope, 1 in Tube, Stand Out?
The Burris Handgun 3-12×32 mm Rifle Scope, 1 in Tube, from Burris represents a significant leap in handgun hunting optics, offering variable magnification in a compact and robust package. Designed specifically for the unique challenges of handgun recoil and long eye relief, this scope promises to enhance accuracy and extend the effective range of even the most powerful magnum handguns. The inclusion of the Ballistic Plex reticle and parallax adjustment underscores its focus on precision and versatility, making it a compelling option for serious handgun hunters.
My interest in the Burris handgun scope stemmed from a desire to improve my accuracy with a .44 Magnum revolver at distances beyond 50 yards. I was looking for a scope that could withstand the intense recoil, provide a clear and bright image, and offer precise adjustments for bullet drop compensation.
Upon unboxing the scope, I was immediately struck by its solid construction and compact size. The matte black finish appeared durable, and the turrets had a positive, tactile feel. The scope felt substantial without being overly heavy, suggesting a good balance between ruggedness and portability.
I considered other handgun scopes from Leupold and Nikon, but the Burris scope’s combination of magnification range, parallax adjustment, and the Ballistic Plex reticle ultimately swayed my decision. The Leupold offered a similar build quality but lacked the precise parallax adjustment, while the Nikon fell short in terms of magnification power.
My first impression was one of excitement. This scope appeared to be precisely what I needed to take my handgun hunting to the next level, promising both enhanced accuracy and increased confidence in the field.
Real-World Testing: Putting Burris Handgun 3-12×32 mm Rifle Scope, 1 in Tube, to the Test
First Use Experience
I initially tested the Burris Handgun 3-12×32 mm Rifle Scope, 1 in Tube, at my local shooting range, mounting it on a Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum revolver. The weather was clear and sunny, providing excellent visibility.
The scope performed admirably, delivering a crisp and clear sight picture, even at maximum magnification. The parallax adjustment proved invaluable in fine-tuning the focus at different distances, enhancing accuracy significantly.
The only initial issue was getting used to the long eye relief, which is characteristic of handgun scopes. However, after a few adjustments to my shooting stance and grip, I was able to consistently acquire a full and clear field of view.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, the Burris handgun scope has proven to be remarkably durable and reliable. It has held zero consistently, even after repeated exposure to the .44 Magnum’s punishing recoil.
There are no signs of significant wear and tear, and the matte black finish remains unblemished. Cleaning the lenses is simple, requiring only a soft cloth and lens cleaning solution.
Compared to my previous experience with a lower-quality handgun scope, the Burris scope is a significant upgrade. It delivers superior optical clarity, more precise adjustments, and greater overall reliability, making it a worthwhile investment for serious handgun hunters.
