Talon Grips Adhesive Grip Granulate For Glock 19 Gen5 Textured Black Granulate Review

First Thoughts on the Talon Grips Adhesive Grip Granulate For Glock 19 Gen5 Textured Black Granulate

As an outdoor and tactical gear specialist with over a decade of experience, I’ve handled countless firearms and accessories. A reliable grip is paramount for confident handling, especially in demanding situations. My search for enhanced grip on my Glock 19 Gen5 led me to the Talon Grips Adhesive Grip Granulate For Glock 19 Gen5 Textured Black Granulate.

I was looking for an aftermarket grip solution that would significantly improve my purchase without drastically altering the feel of the firearm. Factory Glock grips, while functional, can be a bit slick, especially when hands are wet or gloved. My primary goal was to enhance grip security for improved control and faster follow-up shots, without resorting to aggressive stippling or bulky slip-on sleeves.

Upon receiving the Talon Grips, the first thing I noticed was the quality of the material. The textured black granulate felt robust and provided an immediate sense of improved traction. The precision cut, designed specifically for the Glock 19 Gen5, indicated careful attention to detail. Compared to universal grip tapes or rubber sleeves, the Talon Grips promised a tailored fit and finish.

I considered options like rubberized grips from Hogue and sandpaper-style grips from Handleitgrips, but chose Talon Grips for their reputation of providing a balance of aggressive texture and comfortable feel. My initial excitement was high, hoping these grips would deliver the enhanced purchase I sought without sacrificing comfort or concealability. I was keen to see if they lived up to their promise of superior grip and a clean, factory-like appearance.

Real-World Testing: Putting Talon Grips Adhesive Grip Granulate For Glock 19 Gen5 Textured Black Granulate to the Test

First Use Experience

My first experience with the Talon Grips Adhesive Grip Granulate For Glock 19 Gen5 Textured Black Granulate was at an outdoor shooting range. I tested the Glock 19 Gen5 with the grips installed in both dry and slightly damp conditions to simulate real-world use. The difference in grip was immediately noticeable and substantial compared to the bare frame.

The improved purchase inspired confidence, particularly during rapid firing drills. Even with slightly sweaty hands, the pistol remained firmly planted in my grip. The textured surface prevented slippage, translating to better recoil control and faster target re-acquisition. I experienced no discomfort or abrasion from the granulate texture, even after extended use.

Initially, I experienced no issues or surprises. Installation was straightforward, following the provided instructions carefully. The grips adhered securely to the frame, showing no signs of peeling or shifting during the initial range session.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of use, the Talon Grips have proven to be exceptionally durable. I’ve subjected them to regular range sessions, concealed carry, and even a few outdoor training exercises. There is minimal wear and tear, with no peeling or significant loss of texture.

The grips have held up well against sweat, solvents, and abrasion from clothing. Maintenance is simple, typically just wiping them down with a damp cloth. Compared to stippled frames, which can be more difficult to clean, the Talon Grips offer a practical and low-maintenance solution. They have exceeded my expectations, consistently providing a secure and comfortable grip under various conditions.
