The Hogue Govt. G-10 Handgun Grip Mainspring Housing Smooth Arched OD Green Camo 01368 is more than just an accessory; it’s an upgrade that combines aesthetics with enhanced functionality for your 1911. Made by Hogue, a trusted name in firearm accessories, this grip and mainspring housing combo boasts durable G-10 material in an eye-catching OD Green Camo pattern, along with a smooth arched design for improved ergonomics. I was initially drawn to this product because I was looking for a way to improve the grip and overall handling of my Colt 1911 Government model without sacrificing its classic look.
My search began when I noticed my factory grip was wearing down, affecting my purchase on the firearm during rapid firing drills. The factory mainspring housing was also fairly slick, contributing to the problem. Upon unboxing, the Hogue grip and mainspring housing immediately impressed me with its rugged, textured surface and vibrant color. The G-10 material felt incredibly solid, and the OD Green Camo pattern provided a modern, tactical aesthetic that I appreciated.
Compared to other grip options I considered, such as rubberized grips or those made from wood, the G-10 material stood out for its durability and superior grip even when wet. I also considered a few other G-10 options from other manufacturers, but the Hogue name and reputation for quality ultimately swayed my decision. My first impression was one of excitement; I couldn’t wait to install it and see how it improved my shooting experience.

First Use Experience
My first test of the Hogue Govt. G-10 Handgun Grip Mainspring Housing Smooth Arched OD Green Camo 01368 was at my local shooting range, where I typically practice various drills and accuracy shooting. The weather was a bit humid, making my hands slightly sweaty, which previously caused slippage with my factory grips. The smooth arched mainspring housing also felt more natural in my hand, providing a better overall feel compared to the original flat housing. I found that I didn’t need any time to adjust to the new grip; it felt like a natural extension of my hand from the first shot. After the first magazine, I realized the difference was substantial – my groups were tighter, and I felt more in control of the firearm, greatly boosting my confidence.
