AERO CMPLT UPPER 5.56 16″ MOE Black Review

First Thoughts on the AERO CMPLT UPPER 5.56 16″ MOE Black

The AERO CMPLT UPPER 5.56 16″ MOE Black is a complete AR-15 upper receiver assembly that caught my eye with its balance of affordability and quality. Built by Aero Precision, a company known for precision manufacturing, this upper promises a reliable and accurate shooting experience without breaking the bank. The combination of a mid-length gas system, a Magpul MOE handguard, and a classic A2 front sight post made it an intriguing option for a versatile AR build.

I was in the market for a reliable upper receiver to complete a new AR-15 build focusing on all-around utility. I wanted something suitable for both range training and potential home defense, prioritizing reliability and ease of use over specialized features. Several other uppers from different manufacturers were on my list, but the AERO CMPLT UPPER 5.56 16″ MOE Black stood out due to its positive reputation and complete configuration.

Upon unboxing, I was immediately impressed with the fit and finish of the upper. The anodized black finish was smooth and consistent, and the Magpul MOE handguard felt solid and well-made. The A2 front sight post was securely mounted, and the overall weight felt balanced and manageable. This upper felt like a quality product ready for action.

I considered uppers from Bravo Company Manufacturing (BCM) and Palmetto State Armory (PSA), but chose Aero Precision due to their reputation for quality control and precision machining at a reasonable price point. While BCM offers premium components, their price tag exceeded my budget for this particular build. PSA’s offerings were more affordable, but some online reviews raised concerns about consistent quality control, making the AERO CMPLT UPPER 5.56 16″ MOE Black the sweet spot for my needs.

My first impression was excitement; the upper appeared to be exactly what I needed to complete my AR build. It felt like a solid, well-made component that would provide a reliable and accurate platform for years to come. I was eager to mount it to my lower receiver and head to the range.
