It’s a blued steel magazine that offers a 5-round capacity, making it a compelling option for those seeking a reliable and durable magazine for their semi-automatic shotgun. This magazine’s compatibility with various shotgun models and robust construction immediately caught my attention.
As an outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’m always looking for accessories that enhance the performance and reliability of firearms, particularly shotguns used in dynamic shooting sports and personal defense scenarios. I needed a magazine that could reliably feed 12 gauge shells in my VR80, providing a higher capacity than the factory-supplied magazine without sacrificing reliability. The positive reviews regarding its compatibility and robust construction were deciding factors.
Upon unboxing, the magazine felt solid and well-made. The blued steel finish gave it a classic, durable feel, and the black polymer follower appeared to be of good quality. The spring tension felt firm and consistent, suggesting it would reliably feed rounds.
Compared to a Promag VR80 magazine and the factory VR80 magazine, the Derya Arms magazine appeared to be better finished than the Promag. The factory magazine felt more fragile than the Derya Arms Shotgun Magazine, 12 Gauge, 5 Rounds, Fits DY12, Blued Finish, Black. Its solid construction and reputation for compatibility led me to choose this magazine over others.

First Use Experience
I tested the Derya Arms Shotgun Magazine, 12 Gauge, 5 Rounds, Fits DY12, Blued Finish, Black at my local shooting range. I used it with my VR80 shotgun, alongside various 12-gauge loads, including birdshot, buckshot, and slugs. The weather conditions were dry, with a slight breeze.
The magazine performed exceptionally well throughout my first range session. Feeding was smooth and consistent, with no failures to feed or eject. It locked positively into the magazine well, and the shells seated properly.
The magazine was relatively easy to load, although the spring tension required a bit of effort, especially when fully loading it with five rounds. I noticed no issues with its operation, and it seemed to improve the overall shooting experience with my VR80. The only surprise was how well it managed the recoil of the heavier slug loads.

I clean the magazine after each range session using a basic gun cleaning solvent and a brush to remove any residue. Maintenance is straightforward, and the magazine appears well-suited for long-term use.
Compared to my previous experiences with aftermarket shotgun magazines, this one stands out for its consistent performance. It outperforms cheaper, generic magazines I’ve used in the past, which often suffered from feeding issues. I would confidently recommend it.
