Let’s Dive into Bear OPS Auto Bold Action 5 3.75in Automatic Folding Knives
The Bear OPS Auto Bold Action 5 3.75in Automatic Folding Knives is an automatic knife designed for tactical and everyday carry. Manufactured by Bear OPS, this knife boasts a Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel blade and a G10 handle, offering a blend of durability and functionality. The automatic deployment mechanism provides rapid blade access, making it a compelling choice for situations demanding quick responses.
My journey to the Bear OPS Auto Bold Action 5 started with a search for a reliable, one-handed-operation knife for search and rescue scenarios. I needed something that could be quickly deployed while keeping one hand free to assist someone. Other options I considered included models from Benchmade and Pro-Tech, both reputable brands, but the Bear OPS offering seemed to strike a balance between performance and price.
Unboxing the Bear OPS Auto Bold Action 5, my initial impression was of solid construction. The knife had a comfortable weight and the G10 handle felt secure in my grip. The automatic mechanism deployed the blade quickly and smoothly, and the blade arrived sharp right out of the box.
Compared to the Benchmade I usually carry, the Bear OPS felt slightly heavier but more robust. I chose this knife over other options because it had a rugged build without an unnecessarily high price tag. My first impression was excitement mixed with a bit of caution, as automatic knives require respect and understanding of their mechanics.

The Bear OPS Auto Bold Action 5 performed admirably under these conditions. The G10 handle provided a solid grip even when wet, and the blade retained its sharpness after repeated use. Opening and closing the knife one-handed was seamless, giving me confidence when multitasking.
The blade’s automatic deployment system did take a bit of getting used to, requiring a deliberate push of the button to prevent accidental deployment.
