First Impressions of EOTech Vudu 3-9x32mm Ultra-Short Rifle Scope w/Integrated Mount, Second Focal Plane
The EOTech Vudu 3-9x32mm Ultra-Short Rifle Scope w/Integrated Mount, Second Focal Plane represents a fascinating attempt to pack a versatile optic solution into an incredibly compact package. EOTech has long been known for their holographic sights, but the Vudu line signifies a move into traditional magnified optics, and this particular model stands out for its small size and integrated mounting options. With its included EFLX red dot mounting capability, this scope promised to be a game changer.
I was looking for an optic that could transition quickly between close-quarters and medium-range engagements on my AR-15 platform. Red dots are great for speed, but lack precision at distance, while traditional scopes can be slow to acquire targets up close. I needed a flexible solution, and the advertised versatility of the EOTech Vudu 3-9x32mm Ultra-Short Rifle Scope w/Integrated Mount, Second Focal Plane seemed like a perfect fit.
Unboxing the Vudu was a unique experience; its diminutive size was immediately striking. The build quality felt solid, with the aircraft-grade aluminum housing exuding a sense of ruggedness. The integrated mount looked well-machined and ready for action, but the real selling point was the mount for the EFLX red dot, promising seamless transitions between magnified and unmagnified aiming.
I considered other LPVOs (Low Power Variable Optics) from Trijicon and Vortex, but they were noticeably longer and heavier. The EOTech Vudu 3-9x32mm Ultra-Short Rifle Scope w/Integrated Mount, Second Focal Plane offered a similar magnification range in a much smaller package, and the integrated red dot mount sealed the deal. This optic prioritized modularity.
My initial impression was one of excitement tempered by a bit of skepticism. Could such a small scope deliver the performance I needed? The potential was definitely there, and I was eager to put it to the test.

First Use Experience
My first outing with the EOTech Vudu 3-9x32mm Ultra-Short Rifle Scope w/Integrated Mount, Second Focal Plane was at a local shooting range, primarily focusing on target acquisition at varying distances. I mounted the scope on my 5.56 AR-15 and brought along my EOTech EFLX red dot to complete the setup. The shooting range provided distances from 25 to 300 yards.
The scope performed admirably in the relatively controlled range environment. Transitioning between the EFLX for close targets and the magnified optic for longer shots was smooth and intuitive. The glass was clear, and the illuminated reticle was easily visible even in bright sunlight.
I experienced no issues during my initial range session.

After several months of regular use, the EOTech Vudu 3-9x32mm Ultra-Short Rifle Scope w/Integrated Mount, Second Focal Plane has proven to be a reliable and capable optic. It has accompanied me on multiple range trips and even a hog hunt in the humid Texas backcountry. The durability of the scope has been impressive.
Despite being subjected to occasional bumps and scrapes, the aircraft-grade aluminum housing has held up remarkably well, showing no signs of significant wear. The finish remains intact, and the adjustments still feel precise and positive. Cleaning the lenses after dusty range sessions has been simple, and the scope appears to be well-sealed against the elements.
Compared to other optics I’ve used, the EOTech Vudu 3-9x32mm Ultra-Short Rifle Scope w/Integrated Mount, Second Focal Plane excels in its compact size and versatility. While it may not offer the same level of optical performance as some higher-end scopes, its overall package is hard to beat, especially for its intended purpose. I would rate it highly.
