Icarus Precision ACE Echelon Full Pistol Grip Review

What Makes the Icarus Precision ACE Echelon Full Pistol Grip Stand Out?

The Icarus Precision ACE Echelon Full Pistol Grip isn’t just another grip module; it’s a complete transformation for your Springfield Armory Echelon. This all-aluminum grip aims to elevate the pistol’s ergonomics and shooting experience, promising enhanced control and a more natural point of aim. Icarus Precision has built a reputation for high-quality aftermarket pistol components, and this grip module seems to continue that trend.

For years, I’ve struggled with the factory polymer grips on my pistols. They often feel slick, especially during extended range sessions or in adverse weather. I was searching for a grip that would provide a more secure and confident hold, ultimately improving my accuracy and recoil management.

The Icarus Precision ACE Echelon Full Pistol Grip arrived well-packaged, immediately revealing the quality of the machining. The matte black finish is even and durable, and the 7075 aluminum feels incredibly solid in hand. The aggressive 360-degree grip texture provides an immediate sense of enhanced control compared to the factory grip.

I considered other options like aftermarket stippling or grip tape. These solutions are cheaper, but they don’t offer the same level of rigidity and ergonomic enhancement as a full grip module replacement. The Icarus Precision grip promised a complete solution, addressing both grip texture and overall hand fit.

My first impression was overwhelmingly positive. The grip feels substantial and well-made, and the enhanced ergonomics are immediately noticeable. I was eager to get it installed and see how it performed on the range.

Real-World Testing: Putting the Icarus Precision ACE Echelon Full Pistol Grip to the Test

First Use Experience

I first tested the Icarus Precision ACE Echelon Full Pistol Grip at my local outdoor shooting range. The weather was typical for early spring: slightly damp and a bit chilly. This provided an ideal opportunity to evaluate the grip’s performance in less-than-ideal conditions.

The enhanced grip texture made a noticeable difference immediately. Even with slightly damp hands, the pistol felt much more secure and controllable. The increased purchase translated directly into improved recoil management and faster follow-up shots.

There was a slight adjustment period as I adapted to the new grip angle and the pronounced thumb ledge. It only took a few magazines to become accustomed to the new feel. The improved ergonomics quickly felt natural and intuitive.

The only minor issue I encountered was a slight increase in the overall weight of the pistol. However, the added weight contributed to better recoil absorption, so this was ultimately a benefit rather than a detriment.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of regular use, the Icarus Precision ACE Echelon Full Pistol Grip has proven to be incredibly durable and reliable. There are no signs of wear and tear, even after hundreds of rounds fired. The finish has held up perfectly, and the grip texture remains as aggressive as it was on day one.

Maintaining the grip is simple. A quick wipe-down with a lightly oiled cloth after each range session is all it takes to keep it in top condition. The aluminum construction is resistant to corrosion, and the textured surface is easy to clean.

Compared to my previous experiences with polymer grips, the Icarus Precision grip is a significant upgrade. It provides a level of control and confidence that I simply couldn’t achieve with the factory setup. This grip module has undoubtedly enhanced my shooting performance.
