First Impressions of Bear Archery Legit MAXX RTH Bow Package 1502472
The Bear Archery Legit MAXX RTH Bow Package 1502472 promises to be a versatile and accessible option for archers of all skill levels. With its adjustable draw weight and length, along with a comprehensive Ready-To-Hunt (RTH) package, it aims to provide a complete setup for both beginners and experienced shooters. The reputation of Bear Archery for producing reliable and affordable bows definitely piqued my interest.
Having worked with countless archers over the years, I’ve seen the challenges new archers face in finding a bow that fits them as they grow and develop their skills. I was specifically looking for a bow package that offers a high degree of adjustability and ease of use, making it ideal for teaching beginners or for archers who want a bow that can adapt to changing physical conditions. The Legit MAXX seemed to address these needs perfectly.
The unboxing experience was straightforward. The bow and included accessories were neatly packed, and the initial impression was of a well-built, sturdy piece of equipment. The black finish is clean and professional, and the overall weight feels manageable, even with the accessories attached.
I had been considering the Diamond Archery Edge SB-1 and the PSE Stinger MAX, both popular bows in a similar price range. I ultimately chose the Bear Archery Legit MAXX RTH Bow Package 1502472 for its wider range of draw weight adjustment (10-70 lbs vs. the others’ 5-70 lbs). This wider range seemed more accommodating for truly young or physically limited archers.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The bow looked the part, but the real test would be in its performance and adjustability.
Real-World Testing: Putting Bear Archery Legit MAXX RTH Bow Package 1502472 to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Bear Archery Legit MAXX RTH Bow Package 1502472 at an outdoor archery range and in a controlled indoor environment. The outdoor range presented varying light conditions and a slight breeze, providing a realistic hunting scenario simulation.
The bow performed admirably in both settings. Adjusting the draw weight and length was surprisingly simple, requiring only basic tools and a clear understanding of the included instructions. I encountered no issues with the cams or string during the initial setup.
The IMS V-Biscuit rest was forgiving, allowing for consistent arrow placement even with slightly inconsistent form. However, the included sight felt somewhat basic, and I found myself wishing for a higher quality option.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use, the Bear Archery Legit MAXX RTH Bow Package 1502472 has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of significant wear and tear on the limbs, cams, or string.
The finish remains intact, and the overall construction feels solid. I have dedicated time for cleaning and maintenance, which is straightforward. A simple wipe-down after each use and occasional lubrication of the cams has kept the bow in excellent condition.
Compared to my experience with other entry-level bows, the Legit MAXX provides a smoother and more consistent draw cycle. The adjustability is a huge plus, and it has allowed me to fine-tune the bow to different archers with varying strengths and skill levels.
Breaking Down the Features of Bear Archery Legit MAXX RTH Bow Package 1502472
Specifications
- Draw weight: 10-70 lbs: This incredibly wide range makes the bow suitable for young archers just starting out, all the way up to adults pursuing larger game.
- Draw length: 14″-30″: This vast range ensures a comfortable and proper fit for almost any archer, regardless of their size.
- Let-off: 75 percent: This allows the archer to hold the bow at full draw with significantly less effort, improving accuracy and reducing fatigue.
- Axle-to-axle length: 30″: This shorter axle-to-axle length makes the bow more maneuverable in tight hunting situations, such as treestands or blinds.
- Brace height: 6.25″: A shorter brace height generally translates to a faster arrow speed, but it can also make the bow slightly less forgiving.
- Improved dual cam system: This delivers a smooth draw cycle and consistent performance, making the bow easier to shoot accurately.
- IMS rest and Picatinny sight mounting locations: These allow for easy attachment and customization of accessories.
These specifications are important because they directly impact the bow’s versatility and ease of use. The wide range of adjustability means that this bow can grow with the archer, eliminating the need to purchase a new bow as they improve their skills and strength.
