The Safariland 6005 SLS Tactical Holster w/ Quick Release Leg Harness – STX Tactical Black, Right Hand 6005-9711-121 is more than just a piece of gear; it’s a statement. It’s a declaration that you prioritize weapon security, accessibility, and comfort in the field. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill holster; Safariland, a name synonymous with law enforcement and military-grade equipment, has packed this rig with features designed for serious operators. The SLS (Self Locking System), the quick-release leg harness, and the durable STX Tactical Black finish immediately grabbed my attention.
I needed a holster that could stand up to the rigors of tactical training and potential real-world deployments, a holster that wouldn’t compromise my draw speed or weapon retention. I was tired of flimsy, uncomfortable holsters that shifted around and made me question their reliability. Upon unboxing, the immediate impression was one of ruggedness and quality. The weight felt substantial, the SAFARILAMINATE material felt incredibly durable, and the stitching was impeccable.
I considered the Blackhawk! Serpa Level 3 Tactical Holster and the Blade-Tech WRS Level 2 Duty Holster. However, the Safariland 6005 offered a superior combination of retention levels, adjustability, and overall comfort, making it the clear winner for my specific needs with the Heckler & Koch P2000. My initial reaction was excitement mingled with a sense of confidence. This holster felt like it could handle anything I threw at it, a feeling that’s invaluable when your life might depend on it.

First Use Experience
My first field test took place at a local shooting range during a force-on-force training exercise. I needed to practice drawing and re-holstering under pressure, moving dynamically, and engaging targets in a realistic scenario. The weather conditions were typical for late summer – hot, humid, and dusty. The Safariland 6005 performed admirably.
The SLS system proved incredibly intuitive, allowing for a smooth, single-motion draw even while wearing gloves. The quick-release leg harness kept the holster securely in place without restricting my movement, and the STX Tactical Black finish held up well against the dust and abrasion. After the first session, I was impressed by the holster’s stability and the speed of my draw.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use in training scenarios and outdoor exercises, the Safariland 6005 has proven to be a reliable and durable piece of kit. There are no signs of significant wear and tear, even after repeated exposure to mud, rain, and rough handling. The SAFARILAMINATE construction remains intact, and the stitching is still strong and secure. Regular cleaning with a damp cloth and occasional lubrication of the SLS mechanism is all it takes to keep it in top condition.
Compared to my previous experience with other tactical holsters, the Safariland 6005 far surpasses them in terms of retention, comfort, and durability. Where other holsters would loosen, shift, or show signs of degradation, the Safariland remains steadfast and reliable. It’s exceeded my expectations.
