The Safariland 6005 SLS Tactical Holster w/ Quick Release Leg Harness – STX FDE Brown, Right Hand 6005-53-551 is more than just a holster; it’s a complete weapon retention and carry system designed for tactical professionals. As a seasoned gear specialist, I was looking for a reliable and secure method to carry a 1911 during training exercises and potential field operations. My primary requirement was a holster that offered excellent retention without sacrificing speed of draw. The leg harness system was also a key factor, as it distributes the weight more comfortably and allows for greater freedom of movement compared to a traditional belt holster.

My first impression upon unboxing the Safariland 6005 SLS Tactical Holster w/ Quick Release Leg Harness – STX FDE Brown, Right Hand 6005-53-551 was one of immediate quality. The materials felt robust and the STX finish provided a nice, tactile grip. The build quality appeared top-notch, with no visible flaws or loose stitching.

I considered several other leg holster systems before choosing the Safariland 6005. Blackhawk’s Serpa Level 3 Tactical Holster and the Blade-Tech WRS Level II Duty Holster were both contenders. However, the Safariland’s SLS system, combined with its established reputation for durability and compatibility with a wide range of 1911 variants, ultimately swayed my decision.

Upon initial inspection, I felt a sense of excitement. This holster system looked and felt like it could handle the rigors of professional use. I was eager to put it through its paces and see if it lived up to the Safariland name.
