Let’s Dive into Safariland 6004 SLS Tactical Holster – STX Foliage Green, Right Hand 6004-7721-541
The Safariland 6004 SLS Tactical Holster – STX Foliage Green, Right Hand 6004-7721-541 isn’t just a holster; it’s a statement. It speaks of readiness, reliability, and a commitment to professional-grade gear. Manufactured by Safariland, a name synonymous with law enforcement and military equipment, this holster promises secure weapon retention and rapid deployment, all wrapped in a low-profile, foliage green package.
I needed a holster that could keep my sidearm secure during dynamic movement and still allow for a lightning-fast draw. I was tired of flimsy holsters that sacrificed security for convenience, or vice versa. The Safariland 6004 SLS seemed to offer the perfect balance.
Upon unboxing, the first thing that struck me was the robustness of the construction. The SAFARILAMINATE material felt incredibly durable, and the foliage green color offered excellent camouflage in a variety of environments. The weight was substantial, a testament to the quality of the materials, but not overly burdensome, considering its intended use.
I considered the Blackhawk! Serpa Level 3 Tactical Holster and the Uncle Mike’s Pro-Pak Holster before settling on the Safariland 6004. The Blackhawk! felt less durable, and the Uncle Mike’s lacked the sophisticated retention system I was looking for. The Safariland offered superior retention and a proven track record in demanding situations.
I was excited and hopeful. The Safariland 6004 SLS promised to be the solution to my secure carry needs. It’s time to find out if it lives up to the hype.
Real-World Testing: Putting Safariland 6004 SLS Tactical Holster – STX Foliage Green, Right Hand 6004-7721-541 to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Safariland 6004 SLS at an outdoor shooting range and during a force-on-force training exercise simulating urban combat scenarios. The range allowed me to assess draw speed and weapon re-holstering, while the force-on-force exercise tested the holster’s retention capabilities during dynamic movement and close-quarters engagement.
The holster performed admirably in both wet and dry conditions. Even with rain and mud, the draw remained smooth and consistent, thanks to the self-lubricating properties of the SLS (Self Locking System) rotating hood.
The draw stroke felt natural after a few practice runs, requiring only a single, fluid motion to disengage the hood and acquire a firing grip. There was a slight learning curve associated with the SLS mechanism, but it quickly became intuitive.
The only initial issue was adjusting the leg straps for optimal comfort and stability. Once properly fitted, the holster remained secure and comfortable throughout hours of continuous use.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, including weekly range sessions and occasional tactical training exercises, the Safariland 6004 SLS has proven to be exceptionally durable. There are no signs of significant wear and tear.
The SAFARILAMINATE material has resisted scratches and abrasions, and the SLS mechanism continues to function flawlessly. Cleaning is simple, requiring only a wipe-down with a damp cloth.
Compared to previous holsters I’ve used, the Safariland 6004 SLS far surpasses them in terms of retention, durability, and overall reliability. It has become an indispensable piece of my tactical gear.
