That’s why the Safariland 6004 SLS Tactical Holster – OD Green, Left Hand 6004-73-562 caught my eye; it promised to be just that. Crafted by Safariland, a trusted name in law enforcement and military gear, this holster boasts the renowned SLS (Self Locking System), promising a secure yet lightning-fast draw.
My search for a new holster stemmed from a need for enhanced weapon retention during dynamic training scenarios. My previous holster, while functional, lacked the positive retention necessary for confidence during grappling and high-intensity movement. I also needed a left-hand option, as I’m a lefty.
Upon unboxing, I was immediately impressed by the Safariland 6004 SLS Tactical Holster – OD Green, Left Hand 6004-73-562‘s robust construction. The thermal-molded SAFARILAMINATE felt incredibly durable, and the OD Green finish looked both tactical and professional. The weight felt substantial, indicating a high level of material quality, but not overly heavy as to be cumbersome on the leg.
Compared to my older Blackhawk Serpa and a less expensive Condor tactical holster, the Safariland 6004 SLS Tactical Holster – OD Green, Left Hand 6004-73-562 stood out due to its superior retention system and overall build quality. I chose the Safariland for its proven track record in demanding environments and its compatibility with my Beretta 92FS. The retention was the key, and I didn’t want to skimp on quality.
My first impression was excitement mixed with a touch of intimidation. The SLS hood seemed like it would take some getting used to, but I felt confident that its security was worth the learning curve. The initial feel was positive, solidifying my decision.
