Manufactured by ScopeCoat, this cover is tailored for smaller rifle scopes, specifically those with a 20mm objective lens. Its elastic neoprene construction promises a snug fit and reliable protection.
My journey to finding the ScopeCoat Mini Cover stemmed from a desire to protect my vintage Brownell’s retro scope. First Use Experience
My first test of the ScopeCoat Mini Cover took place at my local shooting range. I wanted to see how easily it slipped on and off the scope between uses. I also needed to know whether it would interfere with quick target acquisition.
The weather was dry and slightly dusty that day, a common condition at the range. The ScopeCoat proved easy to use, quickly sliding on and off the scope. I noticed an immediate reduction in dust settling on the lens, which was exactly what I hoped for.
No break-in period was necessary. The ScopeCoat Mini Cover worked flawlessly from the start. The elastic nature of the neoprene ensured a secure fit without being too tight.
Initially, I was concerned about the cover snagging on other gear in my range bag. This did not happen, confirming a smooth and snag-free design.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular range trips and occasional hunts, the ScopeCoat Mini Cover continues to perform admirably. It still fits snugly and shows minimal signs of wear. The color has faded slightly but the material integrity remains intact.
Durability has proven to be excellent. There are no tears, rips, or noticeable stretching of the neoprene. It has survived numerous trips in my range bag and has brushed against branches and foliage while hunting without damage.
Maintaining the ScopeCoat is simple. I occasionally wipe it down with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. It dries quickly and is ready for use again within minutes.
Compared to using nothing or makeshift lens covers, the ScopeCoat is a significant upgrade. It offers far better protection and convenience. I am now confident in the safety of my scope’s lens during transport and storage.
