First Impressions of Trophy Treestands Maxgrip Deluxe Tree Stand – Highview
The Trophy Treestands Maxgrip Deluxe Tree Stand – Highview promises to elevate your hunting experience, literally and figuratively. I’ve spent countless hours in treestands over the last decade, from rickety homemade contraptions to some of the most advanced models on the market. My quest for the ideal stand has always centered around finding the perfect balance of safety, comfort, and concealment.
I decided to try the Trophy Treestands Maxgrip Deluxe Tree Stand – Highview because my old ladder stand felt increasingly unstable, and the seat was like sitting on a rock. I was specifically looking for a stand with a secure climbing system and a comfortable seat for those long sits during deer season. Upon unboxing, the Trophy Treestands Maxgrip Deluxe Tree Stand – Highview initially impressed with its sturdy-looking frame and promising “Maxgrip Cable Safety System”.
Compared to my old, basic ladder stand and a more expensive, but ultimately uncomfortable, hang-on stand I’ve used, the Trophy Treestands Maxgrip Deluxe Tree Stand – Highview seemed to offer a more complete package. The built-in ladder and safety system set it apart from the hang-on, while the Textilene seat material looked far more inviting than my old stand’s canvas. My first impression was cautiously optimistic. It looked like a solid piece of gear, but the real test would be setting it up and spending hours in it.
Real-World Testing: Putting Trophy Treestands Maxgrip Deluxe Tree Stand – Highview to the Test
First Use Experience
My first outing with the Trophy Treestands Maxgrip Deluxe Tree Stand – Highview was on a crisp October morning, scouting for deer sign in a hardwood bottom. The setup was a bit more involved than my old stand, but the instructions were clear, and the Maxgrip Cable Safety System gave me a sense of security as I ascended. The ladder sections locked together with a satisfying click, instilling confidence in its stability.
The stand performed admirably, even with a slight drizzle adding a layer of slickness to the ladder rungs. The Textilene seat proved to be a significant upgrade over my previous stand, providing a much more comfortable perch for glassing the woods. One initial surprise was the flip-up shooting rail, which I found to be a little wobbly when locked in the upright position.
Extended Use & Reliability
After a full hunting season, the Trophy Treestands Maxgrip Deluxe Tree Stand – Highview has held up remarkably well. There are a few minor scratches on the powder coat finish from dragging it through the woods, but no signs of rust or structural weakness. The Textilene seat material still looks and feels new, showing no signs of sagging or tearing.
Maintenance has been minimal; a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth after each use has been sufficient. Compared to my previous stands, which required constant tightening of bolts and patching of ripped seats, the Trophy Treestands Maxgrip Deluxe Tree Stand – Highview has been a breath of fresh air. Its durability and ease of maintenance definitely exceed my expectations for a stand in this price range.
