First Impressions of CIVIVI Amirite Knife CIV-C23028-1
The CIVIVI Amirite Knife CIV-C23028-1, from the reputable CIVIVI, immediately grabs attention with its sleek design and promises of exceptional edge retention. It’s a folding knife positioned as an ideal companion for various tasks, and its listed price point of around $90 places it firmly in the mid-range of everyday carry (EDC) knives. I was drawn to the Amirite because I needed a reliable and easily portable knife that could handle both routine tasks and occasional more demanding cutting jobs while maintaining a discreet profile.
For years, I’ve carried various knives, from budget-friendly options to higher-end models, always searching for the perfect balance of functionality, durability, and aesthetics. Unboxing the CIVIVI Amirite Knife CIV-C23028-1 revealed a well-constructed knife with a comfortable feel in the hand and the fit and finish seemed impressive at first glance. The knife’s weight felt just right, suggesting a solid build without being overly bulky.
Before choosing the Amirite, I considered the Benchmade Bugout and the Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight. While the Bugout is known for its incredibly light weight, I was looking for something with a slightly more robust feel. The Para 3 Lightweight is a strong contender, but I was intrigued by the CIVIVI’s unique blade shape and handle design. Ultimately, the CIVIVI Amirite Knife CIV-C23028-1 won out due to its blend of style and perceived value for the money.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The CIVIVI Amirite Knife CIV-C23028-1 looked great, but the true test would come with real-world use. I was eager to see if it could live up to its promises.
Real-World Testing: Putting CIVIVI Amirite Knife CIV-C23028-1 to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test of the CIVIVI Amirite Knife CIV-C23028-1 came during a weekend camping trip in the nearby state forest. The forest presented a variety of cutting tasks, from preparing kindling for the campfire to opening food packages and general camp chores. The Amirite felt comfortable in my hand, even after extended use.
It performed admirably in dry conditions, easily slicing through cardboard, rope, and small branches. However, a sudden downpour provided an opportunity to test its performance in wet conditions. While the handle remained grippy enough, I noticed the blade required extra wiping to prevent water spots and maintain its sharpness. After the rain and mud dried, there was no sign of rust, but I made sure to clean and oil it regardless.
The Amirite was ready to go out of the box, with no break-in period needed. Deploying the blade was smooth and reliable, and the lockup felt secure from the beginning. After the first use, I was mostly impressed but I wanted to see how it would perform with harder use over a longer period.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of using the CIVIVI Amirite Knife CIV-C23028-1 in various scenarios, its overall performance has been quite impressive. From everyday tasks like opening packages to more demanding jobs like light trail maintenance, it has consistently delivered. I’ve used it for everything from slicing apples during lunch breaks to cutting zip ties during equipment repairs.
Despite regular use, the blade shows minimal signs of wear. A few minor scratches are visible, but the edge retention remains surprisingly good. I’ve only needed to touch it up lightly with a ceramic rod a couple of times to maintain its sharpness. Cleaning and maintaining the Amirite is straightforward.
A quick wipe with a damp cloth and a drop of oil on the pivot point are usually all it takes. Compared to some of my previous knives, the CIVIVI Amirite Knife CIV-C23028-1 definitely outperforms many in its price range in terms of edge retention and overall durability. While it may not be quite as robust as some of my more expensive knives, it offers an excellent balance of performance and value.
