First Impressions of CMMG 28B3D0CTI ENDEAVOR MK4 22ARC 20 TTNM
The CMMG 28B3D0CTI ENDEAVOR MK4 22ARC 20 TTNM is CMMG’s offering in the burgeoning 22 ARC (Advanced Rifle Cartridge) market, a caliber quickly gaining traction for its long-range potential in an AR-15 platform. Promising accuracy and manageable recoil, this particular model sports a 20-inch barrel and a Titanium Nitride (TTNM) finish, hinting at durability and performance. With a growing interest in long-range shooting and the unique advantages of the 22 ARC, I was eager to see if this rifle could deliver on its potential.
My journey to acquiring the CMMG ENDEAVOR MK4 22ARC began with a desire to extend my effective range without the recoil penalty of larger calibers. I wanted a platform that was both accurate and enjoyable to shoot for extended periods, something I could use for both target practice and potentially for varmint hunting at longer distances.
Unboxing the CMMG revealed a well-packaged rifle, the TTNM finish catching my eye immediately with its gold-ish sheen. The rifle felt solid, with a reassuring weight that suggested quality construction, though I missed the inclusion of a magazine. The fit and finish were excellent, indicating a meticulous approach to manufacturing.
I was initially considering a similar rifle from Savage and another build from Aero Precision in 22 ARC. I ultimately chose the CMMG due to its reputation for reliable AR conversions and what seemed like a complete package ready to go, hoping to avoid any compatibility issues often encountered during custom builds. My first impression was one of cautious optimism; the build quality seemed excellent, but the true test would be its performance on the range.
Real-World Testing: Putting CMMG 28B3D0CTI ENDEAVOR MK4 22ARC 20 TTNM to the Test
First Use Experience
My first outing with the CMMG 28B3D0CTI ENDEAVOR MK4 22ARC 20 TTNM was at my local outdoor range, a mix of covered benches and open-air space extending to 300 yards. The weather was mild and sunny, providing ideal conditions for zeroing the rifle and getting a feel for its performance. I mounted a Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18×44 scope to maximize the potential of the 22 ARC cartridge.
The rifle performed admirably, producing tight groups at 100 yards after a careful zeroing process. Even with factory ammunition, the CMMG showed excellent accuracy. There were no initial malfunctions, and the recoil was minimal, making it easy to stay on target.
The only surprise during the initial range session was the relative scarcity of 22 ARC ammunition; it required some pre-planning to ensure I had enough rounds for a full day of shooting.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the CMMG ENDEAVOR MK4 has proven to be a reliable and accurate platform. The TTNM finish has held up well, showing no signs of wear despite being regularly transported to and from the range. Cleaning the rifle after each use is straightforward, and the components are easily accessible.
The CMMG has consistently delivered sub-MOA accuracy with match-grade ammunition, outperforming some of my other AR builds in larger calibers at similar distances. There have been no malfunctions related to the rifle itself, only occasional issues with specific magazines or ammunition types. My experience with the CMMG ENDEAVOR MK4 has far exceeded my initial expectations.
