Epic Baits Buzz Bait Burner Review

First Impressions of Epic Baits Buzz Bait Burner

The Epic Baits Buzz Bait Burner promises to be a topwater game-changer, a lure designed for anglers who want to cover water quickly and trigger explosive strikes. From Epic Baits, a company known for its attention to detail and quality components, this buzzbait immediately caught my eye with its promise of durability and enhanced fish-attracting features. I was looking for a buzzbait that could hold up to aggressive use, cast after cast, and consistently produce results in pressured waters.

Upon unboxing, I was impressed by the robust construction and attention to detail. The Gamakatsu hook looked incredibly sharp, and the hand-tied skirt added a touch of class often missing in mass-produced buzzbaits. Compared to other buzzbaits I’ve used, such as the Strike King KVD Buzz and the Booyah Pond Magic Buzz, the Epic Baits Buzz Bait Burner seemed sturdier, particularly in the wireform and skirt attachment.

My first impression was one of cautious optimism. While buzzbaits aren’t exactly complicated, the devil is in the details, and I was eager to see if the Epic Baits Buzz Bait Burner could live up to its billing as a “durable” and “fish-catching” machine.

Real-World Testing: Putting Epic Baits Buzz Bait Burner to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial testing ground for the Epic Baits Buzz Bait Burner was a local lake known for its heavy vegetation and finicky bass. I focused on areas with thick lily pads and submerged grass lines, prime territory for topwater strikes. The conditions were partly cloudy with a slight breeze, ideal for buzzbait fishing.

The Buzz Bait Burner performed admirably, immediately showcasing its namesake ability to be retrieved at higher speeds than other buzzbaits. It tracked straight and true, even with a fast retrieve, and the blade produced a consistent, enticing squeak that seemed to draw fish from the heavy cover. After just a few casts, I landed a solid 3-pounder that inhaled the bait with impressive force.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of consistent use, the Epic Baits Buzz Bait Burner has proven to be a reliable and durable lure. I’ve fished it in various conditions, including heavy rain and scorching sunshine, without any significant degradation in performance. The wireform has remained true, and the skirt, thanks to the Pro Tie Skirt Band, has stayed securely attached despite numerous strikes.

The bait shows minor signs of wear on the paint, but nothing that affects its fish-catching ability. The hook remains razor-sharp, a testament to the quality of Gamakatsu. Compared to some other buzzbaits I’ve used that quickly lose their skirts or develop bent wireforms, the Epic Baits Buzz Bait Burner has held up exceptionally well.
