First Impressions of Allen Vanish Swivel Tripod Stool
The Allen Vanish Swivel Tripod Stool, manufactured by Allen, promises comfort and convenience for long sits in the field. This lightweight, foldable stool boasts a 360-degree swivel and weather-resistant fabric, making it an enticing option for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts alike. I was eager to test its claims of portability and durability.
As a seasoned outdoorsman, I’ve spent countless hours perched on everything from overturned buckets to fallen logs, always searching for a comfortable and portable seating solution. My aging knees were definitely a factor in seeking a better alternative. This product seemed to offer a practical solution without breaking the bank.
The Allen Vanish Swivel Tripod Stool arrived neatly packaged. My initial impression was positive due to its compact size and the inclusion of a carry bag. The Realtree Edge camo pattern looked well-applied, and the steel frame felt sturdy enough.
Compared to similar tripod stools I’ve used, this one stood out due to its swivel feature and stated weather resistance. I’ve used basic, non-swiveling stools from [Competitor A] and found them limiting for scanning my surroundings. Another stool from [Competitor B] had a similar swivel but lacked weatherproofing, becoming a soggy mess after a light drizzle.
Initially, I was cautiously optimistic. The build seemed solid, but the real test would be how it performed in the field under real-world conditions. I hoped this would be the seating solution I’ve been looking for.
Real-World Testing: Putting Allen Vanish Swivel Tripod Stool to the Test
First Use Experience
My first real-world test of the Allen Vanish Swivel Tripod Stool was during a spring turkey hunt in the Missouri Ozarks. I set up near a known roosting area, anticipating a long wait. The terrain was damp with morning dew.
The Allen Vanish Swivel Tripod Stool performed admirably under these conditions. The weather-resistant fabric lived up to its claims, repelling the moisture and keeping my backside dry. The swivel function proved invaluable, allowing me to silently scan 360 degrees without shifting my weight or making noise.
The setup was quick and intuitive, unfolding the stool in seconds. I noticed no initial issues with the stool’s construction or stability. It was a great relief to have a comfortable seat as the sun rose.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, including multiple hunting trips and scouting expeditions, the Allen Vanish Swivel Tripod Stool continues to hold up. There are some minor signs of wear and tear on the fabric, particularly along the edges of the seat. The frame, however, remains sturdy and shows no signs of bending or weakening.
Cleaning the stool is relatively simple. A quick wipe down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove mud and dirt. I haven’t needed to use any specialized cleaning products.
In comparison to previous seating options, the Allen Vanish Swivel Tripod Stool significantly outperforms my old bucket seat. It’s far more comfortable and portable, and the swivel feature is a game-changer for staying concealed while surveying my surroundings. While some might find the height a bit low, it suits my ground blind setup perfectly.
