First Impressions of Tethrd SYS Hauler ES OG
The Tethrd SYS Hauler ES OG promises to be a minimalist yet functional storage solution for saddle hunters, and I’m eager to see if it lives up to the hype. As someone with over a decade of experience in the outdoor and tactical gear realm, I’ve seen countless storage systems come and go, many of which either fall short in durability or practicality. Tethrd aims for ultralight and modular, and my initial assessment will focus on whether they’ve achieved this balance without sacrificing essential features.
My saddle hunting setup always seems to accumulate unnecessary bulk, and I was particularly drawn to the SYS Hauler ES OG due to its promise of streamlined storage. The quick-disconnect modular attachment system also intrigued me, as I value efficiency in the field.
Upon unboxing, I immediately noticed the lightweight nature of the system, a crucial aspect for saddle hunters aiming to minimize their load. The Coyote color seemed practical and well-suited for blending into various hunting environments. The build quality appeared solid, and the fabrics felt durable enough to withstand the rigors of the hunt.
I have used other minimalist pouches like the Alps OutdoorZ Little Bear pack, and the Horn Hunter G2 Contender pack. I chose the Tethrd SYS Hauler ES OG because it is explicitly designed for saddle hunting with a focus on modularity and integration with existing Tethrd equipment.
My first impression is a mix of excitement and cautious optimism, hoping that its lightweight design translates into a comfortable and functional experience in the field. I’m keen to test its modularity and how well it integrates with my current saddle hunting setup.
Real-World Testing: Putting Tethrd SYS Hauler ES OG to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial test of the Tethrd SYS Hauler ES OG took place during a whitetail hunt in the dense hardwoods of Pennsylvania. I specifically wanted to evaluate its ability to keep my essential gear organized and accessible while navigating thick brush. The weather was cool and slightly damp, providing a decent test for the fabric’s resistance to moisture.
The SYS Hauler ES OG proved to be remarkably easy to use right out of the gate. The quick-disconnect system allowed me to attach and detach it from my saddle effortlessly, a welcome change from the cumbersome straps and buckles of other systems I’ve used. After spending hours in the stand, I had no issues accessing my gear.
There were no major issues on the first hunt. The pockets could be a little bit bigger.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use during both scouting and hunting trips, the Tethrd SYS Hauler ES OG has held up admirably. I’ve used it in varying weather conditions, from light rain to dry, dusty environments, and the fabric has shown no signs of significant wear or tear. The stitching remains intact, and the quick-disconnect system continues to function flawlessly.
Durability has proven to be a strong suit of this hauler. I’ve dragged it through thickets, scraped it against trees, and exposed it to mud and moisture, and it continues to perform without issue.
Cleaning and maintenance are simple; a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth is typically all that’s needed to remove dirt and grime. The SYS Hauler ES OG outperforms the generic molle pouches I used previously because it is lighter and more purpose-built.
