Axcel AVX-41 Fiber Optic Ring Pin 1408262 Review

First Impressions of Axcel AVX-41 Fiber Optic Ring Pin 1408262

The Axcel AVX-41 Fiber Optic Ring Pin 1408262 promises archers the ability to quickly adapt their aiming setup. This single pin sight component from Axcel, a reputable name in archery accessories, aims to enhance versatility in the field. Is it a game changer or just another piece of gear?

My journey to this pin started with a growing frustration during 3D archery competitions. I was constantly switching between target distances, requiring me to make significant sight adjustments and losing precious time. I hoped the Axcel AVX-41 Fiber Optic Ring Pin 1408262 would streamline this process.

Upon unboxing, the pin felt solid and well-constructed, though fairly standard for a single pin. The blue fiber optic stood out, appearing vibrant even in moderate lighting. Compared to standard single pins from CBE and Spot Hogg, the Axcel stood out because it’s marketed for its quick-change adaptability.

Initially, I was cautiously optimistic. The build quality seemed good, and the concept was appealing, but the real test would be on the range. I was hoping for a product that would significantly improve my target acquisition speed and accuracy.

First Use Experience

My first experience with the Axcel AVX-41 Fiber Optic Ring Pin 1408262 was at my local archery range. I immediately began testing it at various distances, from 20 to 60 yards.

The pin’s brightness was noticeable, providing a clear aiming point even under the partially cloudy sky. Adjusting the pin’s position was straightforward, though requiring the use of an allen wrench, which could be inconvenient in the field. After a few adjustments, the pin was dialed in, and I was hitting consistent groupings.

Extended Use & Reliability

After using the Axcel AVX-41 Fiber Optic Ring Pin 1408262 for several months across various conditions, I’ve got a solid grasp on its performance. I’ve shot with it in everything from hot, sunny days to cool, drizzly afternoons.

The pin has held up well, with no signs of significant wear and tear, although the fiber optic housing has shown some minor scratches. Maintaining the pin is easy. A quick wipe-down with a clean cloth after each use is all it takes. Compared to my previous fixed multi-pin sight, the single Axcel pin offers a cleaner sight picture, but requires a conscious effort to adjust for varying distances.
