This offering from Apex Ammunition, in collaboration with Woodhaven Custom Calls, boasts a unique shot size and the renowned Tungsten Super Shot (TSS) payload, which is sure to appeal to serious hunters looking for maximum downrange performance.
For years, I’ve struggled to find a 20-gauge load that delivers the same punch and tight patterns as the 12-gauge. I wanted a 20-gauge load that could extend my effective range and provide consistent kills without crippling birds.
My first impression upon receiving the Apex Ammunition Turkey Ninja TSS was one of serious quality. The shells themselves look meticulously crafted, and the packaging clearly highlights the specifications and benefits. I was also intrigued by the collaboration with Woodhaven Custom Calls.
I’ve typically used Federal Premium or Winchester Long Beard XR for my turkey hunting, but both have left me wanting more consistent patterns beyond 40 yards in my 20-gauge. I chose to try the Apex Ammunition Turkey Ninja TSS because of its reputation for extremely high pellet counts and deep penetration due to the density of TSS. The partnership with Woodhaven also piqued my interest.
Initially, I was impressed and hopeful, though slightly apprehensive due to the price point. I felt this ammo had the potential to revolutionize my 20-gauge turkey hunts, but would it live up to the hype?
