The Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet 12 Gauge 7/8oz 2.75in 9 Shot Shotgun Ammunition
12IN249 46% Off promises to be a reliable and affordable option for target shooters and sporting clay enthusiasts. Fiocchi is a well-known name in ammunition, and this offering aims to deliver consistent performance without breaking the bank. With a 7/8 ounce payload of #9 shot and a muzzle velocity of 1350 fps, it’s designed specifically for the demands of trap and skeet.
My pursuit of this particular load was driven by the ever-increasing cost of shotgun ammunition. I was seeking a budget-friendly option that wouldn’t sacrifice performance during my weekly trap shooting sessions. Consistency in shot patterns and reliable cycling were paramount.
Upon receiving the Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet Ammunition, the packaging was standard, but the shells themselves looked clean and well-assembled. The plastic hulls felt sturdy, and the crimps were tight, suggesting a quality loading process. The weight felt appropriate for a 7/8 oz load, providing reassurance of a consistent powder charge.
Compared to premium brands like Federal Gold Medal or Winchester AA, the Fiocchi shells lack the polished appearance and sometimes smoother cycling. However, the price difference is significant. I chose the Fiocchi specifically for its value proposition.
My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. The Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet Ammunition seemed like a solid, no-frills option. I was eager to see how it performed on the range.

First Use Experience
I tested the Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet Ammunition at my local shooting range, using my Beretta A400 Xcel. The conditions were typical for a late summer afternoon: sunny with a slight breeze. I focused primarily on trap shooting, running several rounds to assess the shells’ consistency and breakability.
The Fiocchi shells cycled flawlessly through my Beretta. Ejection was consistent and clean. The recoil was noticeably lighter than with 1 1/8 oz loads, which was a welcome surprise, allowing for faster follow-up shots.
The only minor issue I encountered was a slightly louder report compared to some other target loads I’ve used. However, this was not a significant concern. The target breaks were solid and consistent, indicating a good pattern density with the #9 shot.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use (approximately 500 rounds), the Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet Ammunition has proven to be remarkably reliable. I’ve experienced no misfires or cycling issues. The shells have consistently delivered good patterns, contributing to my scores on the trap field.
Durability has been excellent, with no signs of hull degradation or primer issues. The hulls reload well, making them suitable for those who reload their own ammunition. I have noticed no significant residue buildup in my shotgun’s action.
Compared to my previous experiences with budget-friendly ammunition, the Fiocchi performs exceptionally well. It offers a level of consistency and reliability that rivals more expensive brands. It’s certainly exceeded my expectations for value-priced target loads.
