For over a decade, I’ve relied on my expertise in outdoor and tactical gear to guide countless enthusiasts towards the right equipment. When I first laid eyes on the Fiocchi Specialty Shotgun Shells 24 Gauge 11/16oz 2.5in 7 Shot Shotgun Ammunition
24PL17 35% Off, I was immediately intrigued by the promise of Fiocchi’s reputation coupled with the uncommon 24 gauge. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill shotgun ammunition; it’s a specialty round, hinting at unique applications and performance.
My interest in the Fiocchi shells stemmed from a need to find a suitable load for an older 24-gauge shotgun I inherited from my grandfather. Finding reliable and consistent ammunition in this gauge has proven challenging over the years. I hoped the Fiocchi shells would solve this problem.
Upon unboxing, the shells appeared well-constructed, with clean crimps and consistent shot size. The plastic hulls felt durable, and the overall presentation instilled confidence in the product. Their lightweight design also suggested potential for comfortable shooting.
Compared to readily available 20-gauge shells from Remington and Winchester, the Fiocchi 24-gauge immediately stood out because of its smaller size, but similar build quality. I selected this over the other options because of Fiocchi’s reputation and the specific need of 24 gauge, it seemed like the ideal match for my classic shotgun. Initial excitement mixed with a healthy dose of skepticism marked my first impressions – could these shells truly deliver on their potential?

First Use Experience
I tested the Fiocchi Specialty Shotgun Shells at a local shooting range, primarily focusing on pattern density at 25 yards. The weather was mild, with a slight breeze, presenting ideal conditions. The shells chambered smoothly in my shotgun, requiring minimal effort.
During the first few shots, I observed consistent patterns with even distribution of shot across the target. The recoil was surprisingly manageable, less than I expected from a 24-gauge load. The shells were easy to use, even for a prolonged practice session.
There were no immediate issues during the first-time use, although I did notice a slightly larger shot spread compared to some 20-gauge shells I’ve used in the past. This warranted further testing to determine if it was consistent or an anomaly.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use, with approximately 100 rounds fired, the Fiocchi Specialty Shotgun Shells continued to perform reliably. There were no misfires or failures to eject, demonstrating consistent manufacturing quality. The shells held up well in storage, with no signs of degradation or swelling.
The hulls showed minimal signs of wear after repeated use and ejection. Cleaning the shotgun after firing these shells was straightforward, with no excessive fouling or residue. Compared to cheaper, locally manufactured loads, the Fiocchi shells displayed superior consistency and cleaner burning properties.
The durability of the shells and their consistent performance throughout the testing period exceeded my initial expectations. They represent a reliable option for those seeking 24-gauge ammunition.
